    Tongue,

There is no need to discuss further without proof, because it is a newspaper's word against a politician's word. As I stated in my previous posting, you don't have to believe what the Turkish newspaper says, and I don't have to believe what the Armenian politician says. Zaman may have invented the story, or Bagdasarian might have said it and then denied it.

I would never accept as a fact anything written by Zaman, but this doesn't make Bagdasarian a cavalier of truth. We both have factual knowledge about newspapers/politicians in Turkey and Armenia, so I don't have to tell you that there is no "tradition of sincerity" in either country.

Unless you or I can produce tape records of this conversation, you can argue forever that Zaman is lying, while I claim that the liar is Bagdasarian.

I also see that you changed the name of the thread which I started, and I find it simply disrespectful. In normal circumstances, I would have to report this to the moderator, but since it is you who did this twisted thing.....

What's a moderator for if they can't edit the posts when they get off topic eh?

PS It's not like I deleted your title, I just added something to it so the reader can know what the thread is all about since the majority of the posts are not about contribution but about how turkish media twists things.

Hey, I can't really see why this point is even being argued. Let us consider Mr. Tchitechian's statement. Allow us to examine who created the diaspora:

I can only think of one major source - Turkey (you can call it Ottoman Empire if it makes you feel better).

Turkey created the diaspora. Sure, there were a few Armenians living outside Armenian Territories before the Hamidian Massacres, but they hardly made up a diaspora of any magnitude.

Lets face it, the diaspora was created by the Genocide perpetrated by the forefathers of Turkey. These Armenians are scattered throughout the world as a direct result of their racist, genocidal act. The energy within the diaspora which you feel threatened by, and which drives Genocide Recognition is YOUR CREATION! (you may prefer to view it as the creation of your forefathers). So lets break this down: The Diaspora was created your forefathers through the Armenian Genocide. The Diaspora is growing and gets much of its increased energy from your continued denial and xenophobia with regards to recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Back to the issue. Even if the issue is pressed harder upon or as Tchitechian says "created" by the diaspora. Isn't that only natural? Remember, many survivors from Eastern Provinces made a home in todays Republic of Armenia, so they could be considered part of those in Exile. They too push for recognition, and therefore their government pushes for recognition. Does it matter which of the Diaspora or the Armenian Government pushes harder for recognition? Of course it doesn't both were directly affected by the event, and both should push. The Diaspora "created" the issue Tchitechian says. But I ask this... Whoever created the Diaspora through Genocide, directly created the Genocide issue for the Diaspora. We are the "Frankenstein" that you will live with until you recognize your creation of us, including the facts of how we were created.

Armenian Diaspora didn't create the Genocide issue, Turkish GENOCIDE and subsequent DENIAL created the Genocide issue.
