Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.

    Yerevan, November 24, Armenpress: The governor of the US State of California Arnold Schwartzeneger greeted today the Telethon 2005 charity initiative organized by the "Hayastan" Pan-Armenian Foundation.
    The governor said he is happy that people serve their compatriots and help them. "I greet the American Armenians who are putting their efforts towards the strengthening of Nagorno Karabagh. This initiative will promote the development of Karabagh transport infrastructure, health and education spheres as well as will promote the prosperity in the country," said the Californian governor.
    "All truth passes through three stages:
    First, it is ridiculed;
    Second, it is violently opposed; and
    Third, it is accepted as self-evident."

          $8 Million Pledged In Telethon

          Yerevan, November 25, Armenpress - About $8 millions have been pledged in donations to Hayastan All-Armenian Fund in the November 25 All-Armenian annual Telethon in Los Angeles, joined by Armenians in Americas Europe, Russia, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The raised funds will be directed to implementation of a major development project for Nagorno-Karabakh region of Mardakert that was under Azeri occupation.
          The biggest contributions came from Louise Simon-Manoogian, who donated $1 million, a Moscow-based Armenian businessman Ara Abrahamian donated $250,000. Around $1.2 million were raised in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, as much was raised in Europe. According to Hayastan Fund press office, the lion's share of donations were made by ordinary Diaspora Armenians.

            I dont get it how does this fund thingy work? The background work sounds really complicated.

              Armenia Fund Inc. manages donations throughout the world. Those donations are then, after a series of audits, transfered to a bank account, where checks are written to the organization being donated to. Every year on Thanksgiving Armenia Fund hosts a 12-hour telethon.

                Thanks. But who is in charge, how did they get in charge? How could you trust them to spend the money wisely? Dont the people that donate have a say in how the money is spent?

                  yeah.. that's what some Armenians say in order to not donate hehe. What better proof than the results? They finished building the roads and highways connecting all the towns and villages in Karabagh which was part of last year's project. If the money wasn't spent properly, how did they finish it? Now people in karabagh can easily take their agricultural products to market and neighboring cities. Next year's plan is a hospital and healthcare(here's the only hospital in town today: http://www.armeniafund.org/projects/projects.php?id=23 ) water, and schools.

                  So basically we see the results and that's enough proof to show the money is being spent wisely. Only 10% of the money collected is used for administrative purposes. Here's more on the organization:

                    UKTurk, it's much safer to send money to a private organization rather than the government, because the Armenian government (which is hardly a government at all) is full of corrupt scumbags that will steal the money.
