Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Hold your horses phantom, you are not making sense. First of all these shows are petty ridiculous ones done by people picked from the street and obviously cannot act. They also probably lack in historical accuracy which I am sure 'you' would be expecting from the mayor of Ashkale the way you expect it from the other millions of ignorant people in Turkey overnight.

Second, unless there were Armenian imams back then it was Turkish women, babies etc. killed in this 'Broadway' event, and the only Armenians that died were the evil, cruel and terrible Armenian bandits and all this is insignificant because the whole thing is a big laugh if you are not a kid of course. Were you expecting depiction of Turks committing Genocide / massacring Armenians in this show that took place in Ashkale, Erzurum, a city which is a nationalistic 'stronghold'?

All I was trying to say was that these shows happen in every city in Turkey since the jurassic era and to me they are funny because of the funny actors. I added that I had not seen armenians in these shows before because its an Eastern region.

If you want to turn this into more than I said and portray me as something else you can go ahead and do so.

...Or you can take this Ashkale event as Turkey's answer to "40 Days of Musa Dagh"

    • Double standards?

Since March 1st, it seems that many Armenians share the thinking that authorities supported by the majority of population can protect the constitutional order by any means, including bottomless violence. Why Turks should have been thinking differently in 1915 or in 2007? Simply, because of our double standards? We are all the same!

      • Hitite - its quite clear what this is...and it isn't at all pretty.

How do you think Jews (and others) would react if Germans from some village "re-enacted" Jews killing Germans and their triumph over them? In the scheme of things this is the same type of thing. That the only "memory" many Turks seem to have is of Turks triumphing over murderous Armenians - and not the other way around - remembering how Armenians were bruttally persecuted and wiped off the map (by Turks) - is really sad and key to the problem.

            And this from Wiki>>>>>>>>>>

So it seems the Russians (and French, Italians ?) HELPED the Turks in the War of Independence ? Shouldn't you Turks change your plays to reflect your gratitude ? LOL!
Russia and Iran were the traditional enemies of Turks. There have been many battles and wars, and everybody has their wins and losses. It ended in 1921 witht the Moscow and Kars Treaties and Bolshevik Russia became one of the first countries to recognise the Turkish Republic. The bolsheviks had a great impact on the victory over the invading Greeks in what we call the Turkish War of Independence wherin they provided much needed weaponry. But Russian atrocities in Eastern Anatolia and Caucasia is well known, the thousands of Cricassian Muslims in Turkey who call themselves Turks today are testimony to this. So Turks and Russians kicked a lot of each others ass up until that point but it was more of the Ottomans taking a beating in the early 20th century hence the end of the empire a few years later.

English, Italians and French saving Ottoman ass?? You must be kidding. Whose ass have these guys ever saved in the past? Well hell, saving ass does not exist in international relations does it? The real agenda is always different.

That whole incident is one sad event. It met a lot of criticism in Turkey too beacuse there shouldn't have been scenes of voilence in front of children. No argument about the accuracy of course. Armenian reaction to this is understandable but I dont think I tried to make it seem like it was a birthday party at McDonalds.

                Two words for you:

                Vano Siradeghyan
General Antranik (1865-1927): “I am not a nationalist. I recognize only one nation, the nation of the oppressed.”

Actually, Strabo is on the money. The British, French and even Italians at certain points in the last few centuries kept the OE afloat as a counterweight to the Russians and of course for their own interests. Hence some of the later resentment of Europeans by the time of Abdul Hamids rule. The Crimean War was essentially fought to protect the OE from Russia and the Treaty of Berlin/ Congress of Berlin further safeguarded the OE after its defeat by Russia. Later and on the eve of WWI, Austro-Hungary and Germany would be the OE's primary benefactor much to the chagrin of Britain and France of course.

Actually, and in response to 1.5s comment, some of the news of these "March Days" (to coin a name for them, if it has not already been coined) does indeed resemble the thinking and actions of those Turks in 1915. Things like mass arrests of community leaders on unspecified or trumped-up charges, arresting people for possessing ancient rifles on the grounds that that proves their intent to rebel, and accusing anyone you want destroyed of commiting or planning to commit treason and endangering the future of the State.
