  • A request for information

    Hello everyone,

I have been studying the history of Armenia during the cold war, and I've come across a character which I can't seem to find much information on. If anyone has any information, sources, or opinions on Marshall Hovhannes Bagramian, I humbly ask that they share it.

    Thanks in advance.

8th or 9th grade public school history books for Armenia taught quite a great deal about him. You might be able to get your hands on some if you're in Armenia. I'm sure you can get something easier than that...

It's unfortunate that there's no information on him in the internet, nor is his name easily found in American libraries.

That's because you have to search under "Hovhannes Baghramian" and not "Hovhannes Bagramian", that's the correct way to spell his name

          Oops..sorry about that.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't bring up any information on the internet, other than the fact that Marshall Baghramian is on Russian stamps...
Meh....I'll have to look deeper into this.

If I'm not mistaken, Prof. Dr. Dennis Papazian is specialized in the Russian Studies or USSR ear (I think) you can check the Armenian Research Center to find some online texts of Dr. Papazian or at least some references to the info you are looking for... maybe that will help

                  Ah, I found the reason!

Most websites have him listed as Ivan Baghramian

Kharpert, are you looking for specific information regarding him?

                    Also can you read Armenian?

I may be able to have my brother in Yerevan find some books for you if you can. You'd just pay the shipping and book price I'll have them sent to you...let me know.
