A friend of mine from Russia has learned that the French insurance company AXA will start giving compensation to the descendants of the people who were insured by this company and were killed in the genocide. Her great grandfather Arthur Sharikian lived in Paris in the beginning of the 20th century. He was killed in the genocide when he went home to Armenia in 1915. Does anybody know if there is a way to check who was insured by AXA? Is there any organisation that might help with the claim? I wrote to AXA but there was no reply.

"Descendants of victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide will be able to use a searchable website soon to check whether any of them are eligible to make a claim to a French insurer, a Los Angeles-based lawyer told RFE/RL on Wednesday."

My suggestion would be keep you eye on Armenian News every day on: www.groong.com
I'm sure they'll get the site up soon and when they do news about it'll be all over groong.
