Kurds are certainly pro-U.S. and the U.S invasion has given them the ability to form a new state. Good for them; this is at least one good by-product of an otherwise stupid war. There are hardly any U.S. troops in Northern Iraq and the Kurds did fine by themselves when confronting the Iraqi army. So I think they can easily deal with any external threats with or without the US. I guess it really angers Turks to know the Kurds will soon have a state.
