Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I wish they would elaborate on exactly what this "deep trouble" will be. I also wish Washington would give Turkey a chance to follow through on these threats by calling their bluff and using, unambiguosly, the word GENOCIDE.

Also, congratulations to the principled Senator Menendez, who will not enable Turkey's Genocide Denial machine.
Turkey can do a lot of damage to US. Just from the top of my head it can close down its airbase and trucking routes that are being used to sustain the Iraq war. It can stop providing Intel in ME. It can stop mediating peace for Israel with Syria. It can refuse to buy US arms even from Israel. It can attack and occupy Northern Iraq. It can manipulate the Azeri oil to Europe. It can further straighten its alliance with Iran and boycott US products. As a NATO member it can give US a lot of obstacles and problems…

Turkey can't do xxxx right now. The dollar increased against the Lira by almost 50% in just the past month. Now everyone in Turkey is scrambling wondering how they're going to pay for anything. The economy is almost shutting down b/c the value of the Lira changes (goes down) every day, and of course, business can't be conducted under such conditions. This is another reminder, one the Turks need every once in a while, that they are dependent on world powers more than we are dependent on them.

Analysis: What would be the Turkish reaction to America’s recognition of Genocide.

Steph, you are right. You know Turkey will do anything to stop this from happening. They are using their Article 301 to put a check on their influenced intelligent Turks but God help them if the majority of Turkish people who have been lied to and deceived ever find out the real truth. It would be over for the Turkish Government.

Here is a list of things I think Turkey can do in response. In fact, this is the list of Turkish blackmail I put together.

1- Immediately pull their ambassador from Washington

2- Big demonstrations in Ankara, and the low approval rating of US in Turkey would turn into zero approval rating since the Turks will see this as a US judgment on Turkish history and an ultimate insult

3- Halt all bilateral military exchanges and freeze all reciprocal military visits and joint military exercises which will halt US-Turkish military operations

4- Any Turkish General who US had honored will return their decorations (Like what happened in France)

5- Incirlik Air base and Turkish Airspaces will be closed to US. Some fact in this regard: Three-quarters of all air cargo bound for Iraq transits Incirlik, and Turkey provides blanket clearance for military overflights supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. For instance, KC-135 tankers operating out of Incirlik have flown over 3,400 sorties and delivered 35 million gallons of fuel to U.S. fighter and transport aircraft on missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. With its proximity to Iraq, Incirlik also helps reduce the cost of American operations there. Six U.S. C-17 cargo aircraft based at Incirlik do the job of nine or 10 military aircraft based in Germany, saving the United States $160 million per year. In addition to Incirlik, the Habur border gate between Turkey and Iraq is another critical supply line for US. Though Iraq is rich in oil reserves, its crippled infrastructure requires Iraq to import gas from Turkey. Half of the fuel used by Iraqi consumers enters Iraq through Habur. Turkey also provides 19 percent of Iraq's food and water, and will soon supply 25 percent of its electricity. Habur is also vital for the U.S. military because one-quarter of the fuel used by coalition troops enters Iraq from Turkey via Habur.

6- They are going to want to hurt the American Businesses and consumers so they might pull their defense contracts (Knowing bonehead Turks they would) on the Joint Strike Fighter, in which Turkey has $175 million invested and an expected purchase of 100 jets, and the upgrading of 200-plus Turkish F-16 fighters at a cost of $1.6 billion. They will also cancel pending Turkish defense purchases from the United States, including Patriot PAC III Air Defense System for $1.3 billion, 52 Sikorsky Black Hawks helicopters at a value of $800 million, 10 heavy-lift Boeing and Sikorsky helicopters worth $500 million and between 30 and 50 Boeing Apache or Bell Cobra helicopters worth between $1.5 and $2 billion.

7- Boycott US products and stop all import and exports

8- Attack and occupy Northern Iraq on the pretext of fighting PKK Terrorists and destroy the Kurdish villages and towns. Lower the Kurdish flag that was raised after Saddam’s fall. (The only reason they haven’t done this yet is because of USA)

9- They will intensify their human rights abuses on Armenians in Turkey

10- They will build a stronger relation with the Islamic republic of Iran, something that majority of Turks wish to do even now but they are not because of US

11- They will increase their political aggressions against Armenia and use the Azeris as a proxy

12- Turks are also blackmailing Israel. Facts: Israel will have to follow through with US recognition. In fact the American Jewish community (AJC) and other large Jewish lobbying organizations have agreed that Genocide has taken place but have continually said that passing such resolution will not bring reconciliation between Turkey and Armenia. The reality of the situation is much different. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recognizes the Armenian Genocide but is opposed to the US Congress resolution of recognition because of the Turkish State’s weight of threats on the Jewish community of Turkey. The 20000 Jews in Turkey are hostages. This is very much in line with Turkish policy (Standard Operating Procedure I call it). We Armenians have experienced this

13- Turkey could possibly derail any peace plan between Israel and Syria or any other dealings in ME in favor of US and Israeli interests. Fact: Israel would never ever compromise its position or bring danger to the Jews even if it means dropping US as an ally and joining with Russia.

Gull warned U.S. Congress against passing the Armenian Genocide Bill
          Feb 7, 2007

All of these actions will also hurt Turkey but so far the gutless leaders in the West have been crumbling under their pressure and do not have the courage to stand up for what is right. I think once the US War is over in ME, that will change many things in our favor (more than half of the items I mentioned will no longer be a factor to US) and with our continuing pressure and distasteful actions of Turks in US politics we will finally get our recognition.

Well the US could always use UAE or something instead I guess... As for Turkey doing that sort of thing might piss off the EU - which would hurt their economy. Particularly 1,8,9,10,11,13 would turn some EU bloc countries against them. Maybe not boycott but I think they will reduce their trading with Turkey and choose Asia even more for trade.

you can't find any source for living.

And you? Instead of God or nature or whatever, you created your natural sources, didn't you? Of course you created, you are the greatest gods in the world sitting the throne on the clouds made by ignorance and indifference.

don't make a tool of other countries (USA Isreal and manys)

Does Armenia have any US Army base in its lands? Is Incirlik in Yerevan? Does Armenian intelligence services sign secret agreements with Mossad?

                      Please look at your economy

And i suggest you look at your economy and try to understand what Enverist-Kemalist understanding did my country. As you are so powerful, so independent, so bla bla compare to Netherlands, Germany or even Libya.

Shortly:"Turks have not a friend without themselves!"

Correction: Turks dont have a friend other than Turks who are Turk. Is it tautology? Yes, but at least it becomes logical in this way.
