Last year I had the chance to go twice in Hawaii. It is a very pleasant place, a very nice climate and there is a historical background which I appreciated very much : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii

Of course my first move was to see if there were any elements which can be related to Armenians ? Already there is the moving story of painter Arman Tateos Manookian (1904-1931) who committed suicide : http://www.johnseed.com/atm/article1.html

The next research would be to see if there had been any echos of the overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liliuokalani (who got prisonner in her own palace) in the Armenian contemporary press ? >> specially in the Armenian press of the Russian Empire (St Petersbourg, Moscow, Crimea).

Besides this, there are some symbolic and historical links which can be developped between Hawaii and Armenia :
- both two are native peoples which had been dispossessed from their land
- religious oecumenical relations
- the population of Hawaii is composed also with Japenese, Chineese and Philipinos people. We have some historical cultural links with these peoples :

who has already broken the glass ceiling of Eurocentrism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocentrism wrote an very important information about the position of European powers (England, France, Austria, Prussia, Russia) regarding the National Renaissance of Modern Egypt.

These states were so afraid of this renaissance : indeed Egypt had defeated the Ottoman Empire during the Egyptian–Ottoman War (1831–1833) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1831_Egyptian-Ottoman_War

We understand that they feared that if the Egyptians were to continue advancing, an already severely weakened Ottoman Empire, would collapse and leave a power vacuum, in which Russia could possibly take advantage of. We Armenians know this so well.

This Egyptian military success was the result of an economical revival which was prepared by the political work of Muhammad Ali http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali_of_Egypt .

You can imagine that this growing economic country (in Africa) had made these colonial states mad (and panic) . This is the principal unspoken reason that Dr Martin Bernal points out. It is most interesting.

I am working on the list of French Armenians who were deported by Nazi authorities during German occupation of France of WWII :

Paris, Compiègne, Toulouse, Lyon, Bordeaux, Belfort

Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau, Mauthausen, Natzeweiler (first time I hear of that camp), Neuengamme (the same) and Ravensbrück.

It is revolting, it is discusting. Even when Allies had landed in Normandy (June 1944), Nazis were continuing to deporte people from South France !

My mother was in Paris during German occupation and she saw how German soldiers and officiers behaved in the street. When it happenned that we saw films about nazi crimes on the TV, I happenned to ask my mother "Can Germans do it again ?", she immediately answered me, straight : "YES !"
