But we know how atheist Turks despise the Arabs. There is a Turkish saying : "Né Shamen shékéri, né araben yuzi" which is in English : neither the sugar of Sham (Syria), nor the face of the Arab. That is to say : I prefer to avoid sugar than to see the face of the Arab.
There are some historical exemples of State Turkish despise and hate regarding the Arabs. Here is one :
"The Ottoman Governement can only regain its liberty and its honour when it has cleared the Turkish Empire of the Armenians and the Lebanese. We have destroyed the Armenians with the sword; we sahll destroy the Lebanese by famine."
