My experience with Beliefnet and its support of genocide naturally left a bad taste. But there are always these exceptions that introduce another understanding that we learn of from our unfortunate experiences.
I liked some of the articles Rabbi David Wolpe had written that were posted on Beliefnet so I wrote to him asking for some insights into this Jewish reaction I was getting. I suggested in my last email that he write an article on the Armenian genocide. He wrote back saying that he had just given a sermon on it which would be posted shortly on his website.
I just listened to it and I have to congratulate him for being one of a minority of rabbis unafraid to assert the morality of the teaching over secular politics. If I would not have been exposed to all this nasty genocide denial on Beliefnet, I would not have gotten to know Rabbi David Wolpe and to introduce him to all of you as a man of moral courage all too rare in the modern world.
