  • Racism at it's worst!

We all live in different countries and many of us have lived in more then one. What would you say was the worst case of racism you've ever witnessed? I am especially asking all our Turkish brothers and sisters here . In Turkey I'm sure this can be seen often (maybe I'm wrong, I don't know) and through this thread I hope to keep people in general informed. We don't all live in Turkey. Remember that this thread is based on racism, not neccessarily turkish racism alone but please let's stay on point. It sometimes get's dull reading threads filled with posts sometimes not related to the thread whatsoever (I hope no one takes this in the wrong way).

I lived in Germany in the 80s & 90s, neo-nazis became very active after the fall of the Berlin Wall, there were very many racist attacks against turks and kurds, a daily occurence. The worst was a fire started by skinheads on a hostel housing turkish families.

That's really sad, thanks for sharing Steph. In India, some of the racism between Hindu's and Muslims is really indescribable. In the past, you could see Muslims chasing down Hindu's, I'm talking before 1950 but even now there is LOT'S of racism. This racism has plagued the entire world, it's like grass for God sakes. It grows everywhere.

When i went Chicago, last month a policeman in airport called me "Hey black-ass Muslim! Why cant you see a simple" silently after i passed x-ray device. Even it didnt beep, he made me pass more than five times and delayed etc etc.

In Turkey, it is so strange that if the subject is not political, everybody seems very friendly in surface. But only in surface!

Now that's racism. Most in America look at all muslims as if they are terrorists after the bombings and all. It's funny but very sad at the same time. We're here trying to stop racism and in other parts of the world, it's starting to spread it's joy around. Hope you weren't too offended bro.

            Personal experience

I went to a school not very tolerant towards differants races and ethnicities, my best friend since 2nd grade is Irish, I'm mixed Mexican and Irish. Well we both got flack, but because I'm not white, I got messed up so bad I lost most of the use of my left eye by a bunch of guys in my class

Damn, I'm sorry bro. In Azerbaijan, for example, this goes on everyday. An Azeri guy actually ran away from the military, coming to Armenia because the military was so cruel there. That had nothing much to do with racism but real racism revolves around that country, or maybe it's the other way around. I just wanted you to get an idea of what it's like. Pedro, when is your ISP going to be fixed properly?

That's awful! Racism and brutality begin at home. It makes me wonder how ignorant, hateful, morally bankrupt their families were. I can never understand why someone would want to attack someone else because they come from a different culture.

I would say that you'll have your revenge, and it will be achieved by being smarter and more successful than them; I can't imagine them ever making anything of their lives.

Well in NZ people get along by not talking about their circumstances and their political views, people find it easy just to talk about NZ and live in now. I think there is racism in the home, but it rarely turns public.
