Hey thanks guys.
You learn to deal with racism, back then I couldn't do much, now people generally don't start with me, one being that I am not easily intimidated, two very few people can do that sort of stuff in everyday situations, three I now know how to fight back and four I can sue their pants off

But yeah, it was pretty bad for me and my eyesight acts up sometimes,
but you know you learn and get stronger, plus most of those guys today
live like bums so, the best revenge is living well.

I am especially asking all our Turkish brothers and sisters here . In Turkey I'm sure this can be seen often (maybe I'm wrong, I don't know) and through this thread I hope to keep people in general informed.

You would not meet much racism at Turkey but nationalism is a little different.

In Turkey, it is so strange that if the subject is not political, everybody seems very friendly in surface. But only in surface!

This guy is right. If You had not a political discusion, You would not meet much nationalism too.

I unfortunately also have to agree with this statement. My father, who was born in a small village in western Anatolia, made his way to America and recently married a Musevi-American (Musevi as in, a follower of Moses. The other term seems to be censored in this forum)They came together to Turkey recently and were treated very politially and even warmly by my relatives. She slept in their houses and ate their food and even learned some Turkish.

After she left, my aunt and I got into an argument over her, and in the heated exchange called my step-mom "Gavur"

I was really broken by that. I couldn't even argue with her, cause i knew she tried her to best to hid such sentiments, but they were still there. My whole family is very progressive, but at least the older generation of kemalists have inherited some elements of racism.

I don't know what to say Egeli. I hope racism becomes something you read in books alone in the future.
