  • Is there a hope?

My great grand mom was a little girl when she escaped from Turks on Armenian Genocide. Her name was Zemroukht Vartanian( her children: Wartoosh(MY grand mom) Marous, Azik, Angin, Menik Abrahamians). She witnessed her mom’s death and Turks took her father away. That’s when she was separated from her sisters and brothers. I am hoping I can find them and know where their children are now. I am hoping for a reunion. Do you know how I can make this happen?
Please if you don’t like this thread just let me know and we can stop it, I don’t want posts with hating and insulting.

I wouldn't get your hopes up - but no harm in trying to find them. You should list what village they were from and look for others from this area. Armenians in the Diaspora from these times tended to group together based on ties from their villiages, towns and regions. You can't be sure if they made it and might have made it too the States - they could be anywhere. And best of luck!

Hi, first of all, I'm really sorry for what has happened to your relatives. I'm actually Turkish. I can hypothetically guide you around in Turkey and help you with translations and everything if you think that that might be useful. I'm here to show you all that Turks are not as bas as some Armenians think they are, and also to try to help our nations build up a friendship again. You can PM me any questions you might have.

      Regards,

        .
Best approach ever to reach someting tangable.

My point in raising the issue of KosovaGenocide was this, better stated by hyerebel. Because, in Kosovo case, most of those who were assumed to be dead. found somewhere in neighbouring countries.

Let us ask, not simple recognition from Turkey, but funds to enable family reunions.

I am of the oppinion that, most of those who were supposed to be dead will show up somewhere in the world. Then, real numbers of dead would be calculated, after that, Turkey will (i am sure of it) apologize for the forced relocation and following sufferings and perishing of the Armenians.

I will gather all the info I can from my grand mom and her sisters. I just wish I can find a way to know where my grand mom’s uncles and aunts are, I know how much that means to her and her sisters.
Thank you all for your help, I am hopping for the best!

How long have you been living in US? When my parents were trying to leave Iran we went to Istanbul and into the other cities. If I was older I sure would start searching the schools and churches.

                  Since 1999.

I understand the difficulty of your situation, and again, I am really sorry. If you'd like me to translate some Turkish documents into English, or ask me specific question about Istanbul or elsewhere in Turkey, I'd be glad to help. Feel free to use the Private Messaging service.

as a matter of fact, everyone in a war is object...
They are subjects of war, hoping to see ethics in a battle is stupidity.
People of a nation which is at war are just "things".You should not see them as humans nor worthful beings etc....
                    Grief is not smth rational...
                    Turks died
                    Armenians died too.
                    Nothing can be done
                    SAD,but true...
                    think rational!
                    be realistic...
