Re: Panturanist Ideology & Litterature : Newspapers? Articles? Books? Writers? Impact
There was recently a conference in a French University on French-Ottomans-Turks relations :
Criminal Young Turks had official fonctions in the new kemalist regim : http://www.imprescriptible.fr/turqui...recyclage.html
It would be interesting to know if some of them http://www.globalarmenianheritage-ad...ran00liste.htm met French diplomats, writers, architects, etc., etc.

The concept of identity may change within a century, but followers and supporters of (criminal) ideological ideas can be from all around the world.Originally posted by egeli View PostZiya Gokalp would be considered a Kurd, by the Kurdish nation. This shows how the concept of identity can radically change within a century.
There is a good historical exemple : Count Arthur de Gobineau, a French traveller and writer : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_de_Gobineau . His (racist) thoughts were much adopted by Hitler and by nazism.
I remind that the basic concept of my page : http://www.globalarmenianheritage-ad...ran00liste.htm is not dealing with Turks but with TOURANISM : a racial ideology which led to organized crime in 1915.

PS1 - When somebody speaks of his "genes", I keep my distance. LOL.
PS2 - Where did my friend Pedro Xaramillo get his list ? why
- Mirsäyet Soltanğäliev (1892-1940) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirs%C3...4%9F%C3%A4liev
- and Dr Hikmet Tanyu (1918–1992) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikmet_Tanyu
are included in the list ? It seems an error.Last edited by CRDA-France; 02-28-2010, 09:26 PM.

Ziya Gokalp would be considered a Kurd, by the Kurdish nation. This shows how the concept of identity can radically change within a century.Originally posted by CRDA-France View Post-1/ ...would today be considered a Kurd by WHOM ? by the Turks ? by the Kurds ? by the western medias ? etc, etc...
I expect within another century for the concept of ethnic nationalism to be archaic. Within a single generation, my genes went from Southeastern Europe/Western Anatolia to the US. Chances are, I will marry someone completely foreign to my heritage. Globalization!

-1/ ...would today be considered a Kurd by WHOM ? by the Turks ? by the Kurds ? by the western medias ? etc, etc...Originally posted by egeli View Post-1/ Ziya Gokalp would today be considered a Kurd. He is from Diyarbakir.
2/ Ethnic Nationalism is the belief of common culture and ancestry. Another words, it is complete bullxxxx. Just a way to divide and create unnecessary conflicts.
...as Staline would be considered today as Georgian ? ...as Hitler being not German but Austrian ? ...as Napoleon is considered Corsican because born in Corsica ? ...is Calife Saladin Ayyoubi is considered Kurd or Arab ? etc, etc...
-2/ Ethnic Nationalism : just a way to divide and create unnecessary conflicts. <<<< I totaly agree.
But State Crime cannot be wiped out. A State is responsable of its crimes of the past, all the more when there is a Genocide, unpunished and recognized.
>>> http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en
Beside this international legal side of the debate, the recognation of 1915 Genocide is important for Armenians of course, but also psycho-sociologically for Turks : http://www.globalarmenianheritage-ad...nconscient.htm
The example of Germany is (very) important : now they live normally >> http://www.globalarmenianheritage-ad...steturquie.htm
We, Armenians and Turks, are in the same boat.
Take care. Nil
PS - It is important to publish this book into English (and in Turkish) : http://www.globalarmenianheritage-ad...ralian2008.htm Please find an American editor.

We know all this in the Near and Middle East. But the Arabs of Maghreb, do not know. In France we have an important Maghrebian community (five to six millions of persons). All do not read Arabic and they know less and less about their Arab history or culture.Originally posted by hitite View PostYou dont have to read many books to see how Turks do not like Arabs. Ask anybody and they will say they are "backstabbers", "faith mongers" and "kissers of English ass"....
"Anladıysam Arap olayım" and similar terms are still very much used in daily Turkish.
Which is important is to have books (in Turkish or in Arabic) about these Turkish sayings regarding the Arabs so that we may scan and put on the web.
