Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures.     YEREVAN (YERKIR) - The fourteenth anniversary of declaring the independent Nagorno Karabakh Republic will be celebrated on September 2, Armenpress reported.

    In a row of celebration events, a service will be carried out in the Kazanchetsots church of Shushi, public figures, including NKR parliament members and other government officials will attend lessons at public schools dedicated to the Independence Day. They will also pay visit to the Stepanakert Memorial to pay tribute to the heroes killed in the liberation war.

    The celebrations will be crowned with grand fireworks.

      Centennial Of Aircraft Designer Artem Mikoyan Ceremonially Marked In Yerevan

      YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 17. ARMINFO. The National Academy of Sciences of
      Armenia (NASA) has ceremonially marked the centennial of aircraft
      designer Artem Mikoyan today. Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan
      opened the solemn sitting. In his speech, the minister call Artem
      Mikoyan a genius who brought glory to his country.

      In his turn, NASA President Fadey Sargsyan said that the whole world
      use the achievements based on the inventions of A. Mikopyan. "He
      was recognized a great aircraft designer no only in his Motherland,
      but also abroad," Sargsyan said.

      Deputy Director General of "MiG" Corporation Andrey Garasev said that
      MiF has no match in the world. The number of this aircraft is over
      60,000 at present. Garasev said that MiG Corporation has instituted a
      Artem Mikoyan Medal, which will be awarded to Fadey Sargsyan. After
      the sitting, the participants attended ceremonial opening of the
      Monument for Artem Mikoyan at Erebuni airport.

      Artem Mikoyan was born in the Armenian village of Sanahin in
      1905. In 1923 he moved to Rostov-on-Don where he studied in the
      Military Aviation Academy. His first plane "Oktyabrenok" Mikoyan
      created with his mates. In 1940 under leadership of Artem Mikoyan
      jointly with Mikhail Gurevich MiG-3 fighter was created. In the war
      period, Mikoyan designed fighters with high flight and technical data,
      including E-250. After war, the speed and the height demonstrated by
      MiG-15 and MiG-29 had been records for a long time. High-speech and
      supersonic fighters were designed, which had been in the armament
      of the air forces for a long time, including MiG-9, MiG-15, MiG- 17
      (reaching the sound speed), MiG-19 (the first serial native supersonic
      fighter), MiG-21. Among Mikoyan's inventions are such aircraft as
      airspace plane built late in 60s; MiG-25 the fastest and the highest-
      flying titanic fighter . MiGs have been in the armament of the native
      and foreign air forces for over 50 years. Mikoyan's fighters showed
      55 world records. Artem Mikoyan died on December 9 1970.

        Torch Procession in Yerevan to Commemorate Genocide Victims of 1915

It will start at the Liberty Square at 8:00 p.m. and will finish at Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex of victims of the Armenian Genocide, reports the Press Center of the Youth Wing of ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Nikol Aghbalyan student union.

          Commemoration of 1915 Genocide of Armenians

          YEREVAN, April 24 (Itar-Tass) - Armenians all over the world are commemorating on Monday their fellow-countrymen, who were massacred during the 1915 Genocide in the Osman Turkish Empire.

          According to tradition, thousands of people gather at the Memorial to the Genocide Martyrs in the Yerevan park of “Tsitsernakaberd”. An eternal fire is burning there in memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who were massacred in 1915. Similar ceremonies are being held in several other countries because an Armenian diaspora had appeared on all the continents of the world after the genocide.

          Efforts to get the genocide internationally affirmed and recognised are among the priority tasks of Armenia’s foreign policy. The first genocide of the 20th century was affirmed by several countries of the world and by the European Parliament. It is worth noting that Greece and France had adopted corresponding laws in this connection. The Russian State Duma issued a statement in 1995, condemning the Genocide of the Armenian People.

          The Armenian President decreed to award special prizes to people, known for their outstanding contributions to the cause of getting the Armenian Genocide affirmed and recognised. The first to get such prizes were historian Verjine Svaznyan for his book “Armenian Genocide and Historical Memory of People” and German writer Edgar Hilszenrat for his novel “The Death Tale”.

            1,500 torches and 300 candles were lighted on April 23 in the Armenian capital of Yerevan from the Turkish state flag, set on fire earlier. Nikol Agbalyan Student Union of Dashnaktsutiun Armenian Revolution Federation (ARFD) initiated here start of annual torch-light procession to Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Place of Victims of Armenians Genocide, a REGNUM correspondent informs. Chairman of ARFD youth wing Ishkhan Sagatelyan is quoted by the REGNUM correspondent as saying, that more than 3,000 representatives of youth from Armenia and abroad participated in the meeting. “Active youth gathered here today to show the whole world, that Genocide is and will be kept in memory of all Armenian people,” stated Ishkhan Sagatelyan. It should be reminded, on April 24, the 91st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey s commemorated.



            Addressing the meeting, Member of ARFD Supreme Body, Head of External Relations Committee of Armenian Parliament Armen Rustamyan stated that Armenia had not still achieved victory in its struggle, because “Turkey continues to falsify history, trying to position itself as a victim.” “However, the struggle to recognize the Genocide internationally turned out to be most effective this year; Armenians demonstrated for the whole world that the Genocide recognition is not an Armenian internal question; our example is demonstrative for many countries, and our struggle finds understanding,” stated the member of ARFD supreme body. Also, Armen Rustamyan informed, on April 24, Memorial Place of the Armenian Genocide will open in Marseille (France). “It will be small Tsitsernakaberd,” he stressed, expressing his assurance, that Armenians’ struggle will necessarily reach its result: “The Genocide will be recognized.”







            At present time, several thousands young people with torches are going through Yerevan downtown to Tsisternakaberd Memorial Place. The action participants are holding 30-meter Armenian tricolor flag, hundreds of flags with national symbols, scanning ‘recognition’ word and singing patriotic songs. Representatives of Armenian Apostolic Church head the procession, holding a huge cross.







            The traditional procession is peculiar appeal to world to recognize and to condemn criminal actions of Turkish government in 1915, headed by Ittikhat ve Terraki (Uniting and Progress) Party. As a result of ethnical clearance, planned at state level, at least 1.5 millions of Armenians were killed, and several hundreds of thousands were forced to leave their historical motherland, looking for shelter. On the same day, Armenians will be silent for a minute in memory of Genocide victims in the whole world; all churches and monasteries of Armenian Apostolic Church will ring bells.







            It should be stressed, such countries as Russia, France, Canada, Lebanon, Uruguay, Cyprus, Argentine, Greece, Belgium, Sweden, Slovakia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Vatican, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Poland recognized Genocide of Armenians. Separate documents are adopted by more then 30 US states. European Parliament condemned the crime too. In some countries, denial of the Genocide is considered as crime.
