Accepting that means questioning the occurance of the genocide. Accepting to join a research on the genocide means to find out if it happened or not. We have no doubt it happened, and to discuss it is something disrespectful we'll never do.

Schwarzenegger Urged to Help Bring Genocide Legislation to Vote
(LOS ANGELES)--The Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee of California,
consisting of various Armenian organizations, sent a letter Friday to
California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger requesting that he push the US House
and Senate leadership to vote on the pending Armenian Genocide Resolutions.
The letter praised Schwarzenegger's demonstrated commitment to the Armenian
community and support of Genocide recognition. Schwarzenegger's list of
accomplishments includes designating April 24 as a day of remembrance for the
Armenian genocide and calling on Turkey to acknowledge the Armenian genocide.
"We ask you to openly call upon the Speaker of the House of Representatives
Dennis Hastert and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to schedule votes on the
Armenian genocide legislation currently before their chambers of Congress,"
reads the letter.

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:
We are writing, as the collective leadership of the Armenian American
community of California, to respectfully request that you urge the leadership
of U.S. House and Senate to bring legislation reaffirming the Armenian
Genocide
to a vote in their respective chambers.
Last year, the 700,000 Armenian Americans living in the State of California
were heartened by your Executive Proclamation designating April 24 as a day of
remembrance for the Armenian Genocide. We also deeply appreciate your
signature
on SB 424, the "Days of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide" bill introduced
by Sen. Charles Poochigian. Along with all people of good conscience, we
recall
with great pride your remarks on April 21, 2005 noting that you are "proud to
represent the people of the State of California in recognizing the historical
persecution of the Armenian people and join with them in urging Turkey to
acknowledge the fact of the Armenian Genocide."
Your principled stand holds great meaning for our community. Furthermore, we
are inspired by your refusal to bow to pressure from the Turkish government
that wants you compromise your commitment to proper U.S. commemoration and
Turkish acknowledgment of the Armenian Genocide. In taking this firm moral
stand, you are helping to break the cycle of genocide, a horrific century-long
history of mass slaughter and denial that has, all too often, been fueled by
the silence and inaction of the international community.
In this noble spirit - and in the great tradition of California Governors who
have served as national leaders in the cause of Armenian Genocide
recognition -
we ask you to openly call upon the Speaker of the House of Representatives
Dennis Hastert and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to schedule votes on the
Armenian Genocide legislation currently before their chambers of Congress.

“April 24, 1915 is the day of the Armenian Genocide, the crime against humanity which resulted in the deaths of 1.5 million Armenians. 500 thousand of Armenians who survived the massacres settled in other states. Being deprived of their property they took with them the love for killed relatives, hope and belief in the start of a new life,”
the statement signed by Governor Schwarzenegger says.
“These people found shelter in new homeland and in California, which is the largest outside Armenia state with flourishing Armenian population, as well. Today the descendants off those who survived the Genocide make a considerable contribution to the development of business, art and education in California. Marking the 91st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide we should derive the lessons of the past to combat any demonstration of hatred. Silence can only perpetuate the attempts to deny the past. I side with the Armenian community and call freedom-loving Americans and other nations to recognize the Genocide.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has proclaimed the week of April 20th through April 27th as “Days of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide,” the Armenian Assembly of America told PanARMENIAN.Net.
The declaration says:
“Every April, we take time to commemorate the lives of those forever devastated by the Armenian Genocide. Between 1915 and 1923, more than one million Armenians were killed in the territory of the Ottoman Empire, and countless more lost everything they owned. Intellects and store owners, children and seniors, men and women, people from all walks of life were victims of these horrific acts. Often listed as the first genocide of the twentieth century, these events had a life-altering impact on many, and stimulated an Armenian Diaspora.
California has ensured that those lost and affected by this tragedy will not be forgotten. In 2006, I signed Assembly Bill 1210, authored by Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, to allow construction of a memorial for California’s survivors in Capitol Park. Additionally, in 2005, I signed Senate Bill 424 authored by Senator Chuck Poochigian, which designated in state law a specific time to observe the California Days of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.
I ask all Californians to take time this week to reflect on this tragedy and its consequences. In joining our friends in the Armenian-American community in this observance, all of California helps remember the lives that were lost or changed by these fateful events.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim April 20-27, 2008, as “Days of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.”
