Vice President Cheney Acknowledges Genocide in Letter to Survivor

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - In a letter dated April 22 and sent to
100-year-old Genocide survivor Martiza Ohanesian in honor of her
centenary, Vice President xxxx Cheney acknowledged the Armenian
    Genocide.

"I am pleased to join with your many friends in Connecticut as they
honor you as the oldest living survivor of the Armenian Genocide,"
Cheney writes in his letter. "Each spring, we pause to remember this
terrible event, and to honor the memory of those who were lost. At
this time, it is also fitting that we celebrate the many contributions
you and generations of Armenian Americans have made to our nation
    and its character.

"Lynne [his wife] joins me in wishing you all the best on your 100th
birthday and on this important occasion."

    Sincerely,
    xxxx Cheney

Ohanesian was also one of the honorees at the State House
    commemoration in Boston last month.
