Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Over 100 Members of Congress Support the Armenian Genocide Resolution ************************************************** ******************* Earlier this month, Rep. George Radanovich (R-CA) along with Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Co-Chairs Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), introduced an Armenian Genocide resolution to reaffirm the U.S. record on this crime against humanity, H. Res. 316. Known as the "Affirmation of the United States Record on the Armenian Genocide Resolution," this legislation: "(1) calls upon the President to ensure that the foreign policy of the United States reflects appropriate understanding and sensitivity concerning issues related to human rights, ethnic cleansing, and genocide documented in the United States record relating to the Armenian Genocide and the consequences of the failure to realize a just resolution; and (2) calls upon the President in the President's annual message commemorating the Armenian Genocide issued on or about April 24, to accurately characterize the systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1,500,000 Armenians as genocide and to recall the proud history of United States intervention in opposition to the Armenian Genocide." In this 90th anniversary year of the Armenian Genocide, we need your help now more than ever to ensure that Turkey does not succeed in its increasing attempts to rewrite history and defame the memory of our ancestors. Please contact your Representative today and urge him/her to co-sponsor the H. Res. 316 and to join this bi-partisan effort. ************* Action Needed ************* 1. See the attached list to see if your Representative has signed on to the letter. 2. Res. 316, the Armenian Genocide resolution introduced by Congressmen Radanovich, Schiff, Knollenberg and Pallone. This important bipartisan bill reaffirms the U.S. record on the Armenian Genocide and recalls America's intervention to save those that survived. As you may know, the Armenian Genocide was perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish government from 1915 to 1923, massacring 1,500,000 Armenian men, women, and children, deporting an additional 500,000 survivors, and practically eliminating a 2,500-year Armenian presence in its historic homeland. These horrific "crimes against humanity" must not be forgotten. (Tell your story) ************************************************** * PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 20, 2005 Radanovich Announces 'Over 100 Mark' in Member Support of Pan-Armenian Genocide Resolution Additional Lawmakers Expected to Follow Washington, DC - Rep. George Radanovich (R-CA) today announced that a bipartisan bill that would reaffirm the U.S. record on the Armenian Genocide has the backing of more than 100 U.S. Representatives. Additional Members are expected to join the resolution in the following days. "It is a success that over 100 Members of Congress from across the nation share in the important belief that the United States should officially recognize the Armenian Genocide--these victims will not be forgotten," Rep. George Radanovich, Co-Chair of the Congressional Armenian Caucus said. By properly acknowledging the Armenian Genocide, we recognize this atrocity and renew our commitment to prevent other occurrences of man's inhumanity to man. I am proud to have been a leader in this community for the past decade as one voice for a people who were silenced for too long." The bill, known as H. Res. 316, was introduced by Congressmen George Radanovich (R-CA), Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Armenian Caucus Co-Chairs Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) on June 14 with the strong backing of the pan-Armenian community. H. Res. 316 calls upon the President to "ensure that the foreign policy of the United States reflects appropriate understanding" of the "Armenian Genocide" and to "accurately characterize the systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1,500,000 Armenians as genocide" in the President's annual message. "Ninety years ago U.S. Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire Henry Morgenthau had the courage to speak out and alert the world that a 'campaign of race extermination' was being carried out against peaceful Armenians," said Assembly Executive Director Bryan Ardouny. "During this 90th commemorative year, Congress has a unique opportunity in the face of Turkey's ongoing denial campaign to set the record straight and formally, fully and irrevocably reaffirm the Armenian Genocide." Ardouny also commended Armenian-Americans across the country who responded to the Assembly's call to action and encouraged their Members of Congress to support H. Res. 316. "Securing over 100 cosponsors is an important step in the legislative process," Ardouny continued. "The Assembly will continue to fight for reaffirmation of the Armenian Genocide by working with our friends in Congress to advance this important legislation." ### The Armenian Assembly of America is the largest Washington-based nationwide organization promoting public understanding and awareness of Armenian issues. It is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt membership organization. NR#2005-081 Editor's Note: The list of U.S. Representatives who have signed the letter is attached.
