I was a young student in Paris then. I do not remember exactly when this trial happened and what was the result (?). The Armenian newspapers had insulted this new ambassador because he had been personally involved in the Genocide. The new ambassador, vexed, had attacked the Armenian newspapers in the Lebaneese Justice. He regretted his juridic move because this became an official affair which became not only dealing with the Armenians.
I am not sure, but it seems that this new Turkish ambassador (name?) was from Trabzon (?). I remember my grandmother who was a rare survivor of her town, suddenly began to dictate her memoirs to my aunt. They sent a copy of the manuscript to one Armenian newspaper to Beirut. Unfortunately they did have any response and they had sorrow thinking that the parcel could have been lost.
Years passed bye and 20 years after, by chance, I found the original manuscript of my aunt and I made it copy in good writing. I explain this particular adventure in a French Armenian forum of Paris :
And today I begin to scan the pages of good writing and put them on the web :
So my questions are :
- what was the name of the Turkish Ambassador ?
- was he from Trebizonde ?
- when did the trial happen in Beirut ? (year, months, etc.)
- what was the judgement of the trial ?
There are some researches to do :
- to find reports in the Armenian newspapers of Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, etc..
- to find reports in the Arabic newspapers of Lebanon and the Middle East
>> for these threads :
- to find informations on this ambassador thanks to Google and specially thanks to Google.tr : http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=tr
Thank you in advance.
Take care. Nil (Paris, France)
