According to this Israeli article the JSF is running two years behind schedule and won't be available for service until 2016.

Not so sure about being more suitable for close air support but I do agree that it is less vulnerable due to its high speed and counter missle abilities.....it also depends who is shooting at you and with what.
F-35 VTOL is an amazing jet even though it has many critiques.
Good stuff.

I would say it is the best next choice for the NKR ops. As much as I respect the AV-8B Harrier II capabilities, it is still a light attack multi-task fighter designed to operate from aircraft carriers (British Royal Navy) compared to a flying tank that the Warthog is. As far as maintenance the A-10 is much more mechanic friendly with no major overly complicated aircraft sub-systems compared to the VTOL capabilities of the Harrier. However the A-10 does have problems in its HUD (red flags going off) that overloads the pilot and not to mention you have to throw 10 freaking switches just to fire missile. Regardless it still remains the ground forces best friend (This is why Marines use them).
Updated Warthog have reduced that to 4 switches and incorporated terrain warning system with a much better head up display and target acquisition capabilities……plus, lets not forget about that bad ass Gun that makes Swiss cheese out of any tank.

Pedro, agreed. Migs kick some serious ass.

Hello EddoOriginally posted by Eddo211 View PostUS is getting ready to upgrade to F35s and they might be willing to give some of them away cheap………besides, it has an Armenian nose.
Although the A10 can carry a lot of drop anti-personnel, cluster style munitions and guided bombs. I think that the A10 is a expensive type of aircraft to maintain and keep in service.
Harriers are more versatile and provide better anti-tank/battlefield infantry support.

You got the sound just right hrai. They have that distinct woooosh.Originally posted by hrai View PostAwesome shot, I spent some time at Spangdahlem AB with A10s...................
whooooooosh!
The Warthog is exactly what the ground forces of NKR can use as support. This proven fully aerobatic tank hunter with its straight wings and fuel-efficient turbofan engines can hang around low and slow relaying great battlefield picture to the ground troops. It is able to sustain incredible battle damage while packing assortments of bombs, rockets and missiles complete with its 30 mm gun, its main anti-tank weapon. NKR ground to air batteries can keep the Azeri Migs off its back.

Anyway, it would be good if possible. Save a lot of Armenian lives.
