But im not sure if they're new both have been around for a while now
my criteria for new was 90's. Fresh Prince is 1990, and i guess it's a little old to be new, but it doesn't go in the same boat as shows like "I Love Lucy." As for the simpsons, although it started in '89, it's no where near finishing yet so it can't go with the old classics either, at least imo anyways

I haven't seen it, but I'd be willing to bet that it's one of the better programs (along with I Love Lucy) mentioned here.

Television was better then (1950-1980). Much more dedicated to quality programming. The actors in these shows were the finest Hollywood/Broadway had to offer. Television productions rivaled theatrical motion pictures. And I think that's what people involved in the motion picture industry feared. They didn't want to lose audiences to television.

isn't interesting that all the classics that have been posted are sitcoms?

I think anonymouse still has to ring in with something that I am guessing is going to be related to Scott Baio

Of course before that, we can't forget Al Bundy and Married with Children

By the way, since Simpsons is still running, I don't think you can consider it a classic. It's in a class all by itself.
                  this post = teh win.

I would call Simpsons in a classic, whether it's still running or not.

However, I didn't grow up on Simpsons or Married with Children but I do agree they are both classic shows.
