Upcoming L.A. Shows w/ Armenian Performers.

[Stark Evade]

The Great Deceivers (a King Crimson tribute band with a Shahen on bass) will be at Spaceland in Silver Lake on December 20. They have been getting very good reviews. The musicianship is supposed to be great and the arrangements are surprisingly faithful to the original music.

Karin Tatoyan (if you like Bjork or Denali or Radiohead or Massive Attack, check her out) will be at The Scene in Glendale on November 19 and at Spaceland on December 16.

Shahen of the Great Deceivers is in another band called Fish Circus. They are very strange and very entertaining. They're playing The Knitting Factory in Hollywood on December 9.

How do you know Karin Tatoyan ?

I noticed her name on the Gheghis Cohen calendar a few years ago, went to her show because she's Armenian, and have been supporting her ever since because I think she's a talented person. I don't really "know" her. I greet her and her band mates after their shows and sometimes strike up conversation.

I hope so. Though I have to say that I'm not a big fan of the new stuff either. I wish they would take more risks, do more interesting music, and not rely so heavily on the safe, poppy sound.
