    Gladiator(2000)

There are many that I consider to be tied with it but, I had to flip a coin to decide and this is the result. Damn PA's conditions

Re: Favorite Movie of All Time

It's tough picking favorites because each film I've seen certainly has something special about it. With that said, Ladri di biciclette, better known as The Bicycle Thief, completely blew me away the first time I saw it.

I saw the film a few months ago in spring for a film course. After seeing it, I knew it would never leave my mind and I doubt it ever will. The reason is because it's so real; the film was released in 1948 and is apart of the Italian neorealism. I love films where I can relate with the story and its characters, and I particularly love a film which is driven by emotion. Ladri di biciclette does just that and makes you seriously consider your own personal life. The film makes you more appreciative of your family and what you have in life.

There will never be a film like Ladri di biciclette, however I don't think there will ever be a generation of films like those from the past. Times have changed and I've always felt like I was born in a wrong generation. I feel more connected with the times of the 40s and 50s and it's no wonder why some of my favorite films are from this period of time.

Ladri di biciclette is a beautiful story with exceptional characters which doesn't feel like a film. It almost isn't a film considering the actors are all amateur and there wasn't a real storyline. It's so difficult to make a film which feels like real life. Ladri di biciclette does just that and even more. It's one of the most emotional experiences you may feel and ends just like I imagine some of our lives will.
