    Re: I'm feeling Blu.

I think in order for blu-ray to really catch on, the recorders and blank-media have to get really cheap. The business model based on selling blu-ray media (movies and concerts) is not something that can sustain itself AND push the new format onto consumers very quickly. Sony did have the bright idea to push it with it's new video games and ride that wave (that will definitely pay off ... but it'll only go so far).

People can get a LOT of on-demand (and almost on-demand) content through other means (cable, sattelite, and over the internet) and it's not like 10 years ago when they were stuck with DVDs as the only option.

Of course there are still millions that need to figure out how to switch to "digital TV" ... and I swear I'm about to slap someone in the face if I see one more news report and tv ad about this rediculous "switch" (from analog to digital) ... geeeeeeez enough already ... just do the damn switch and if a bunch of people miss their precious TV, who cares?

      Re: I'm feeling Blu.

Wow, you like to argue don't you? I'm not wrong.

I said Blood Diamond MIGHT be the only one shot in HD. Again, its like back in the stereo/surround days where 1 out of a 100 movies actually took advantage of surround sound.

For the past couple of years all HDTV has done is stretch out regular TV stations and made people pull their hair out trying to find a DVD with an aspect ratio that fits their widescreen without the black borders.

Sports are broadcast in 720p which means the motion is more fluid. Yes, its not 1080p but its a huge improvement over 480i (regular tv). And you can see the freaking puck in a hockey game.

The HD terms are confusing. 1080 is the resolution which means both 1080i and 1080p will have the same detail but 1080p will be more fluid in busy scenes where there is constant motion. Lots of people are buying Blu-Ray when their TV is only supports up to 1080i which means they will probably only get to see 720p out of a Blu-Ray DVD. This is probably why there are claims that there isn't a big difference between DVD and Blu-Ray.

And don't bother asking the sales people at circuitcity, bestbuy or futureshop (for you canucks) because they don't have a clue about the technology either. Probably better off getting misinformed off the internet.

You didn't address any of my issues and you brought up another argument, which you are correct in.

Buddy, I'm actually studying film aesthetics in school. I've gone down this road, so my research is both personal and academic.

I know what you're saying, and I'm not saying you are wrong. What I addressed in my first post to you is right. This second post doesn't argue with my reply at all.
