Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • La Masseria delle Allodole (2007)

The story (with its thematic parallels, in the early scenes, to De Sica's 1970 Garden of the Finzi-Continis) concerns the Avakian clan. An Armenian family living an affluent lifestyle and periodically shuttling back and forth between their two comfortable homes, the Avakians feel convinced that the rising tide of Turkish hostility on the horizon means little to them and will scarcely affect their day to day. Indeed, The Avakians ignore the warning signs, and set about preparing for a family reunion with the impending visit of two well-to-do sons - landowner Aram, who resides in Turkey, and Assadour, a physician living in Venice. Lo and behold, these illusions come crashing down when a Turkish military regiment crops up at the house, annihilates every male member of the family and forces the ladies to trek off into the Syrian desert, where they will be left to rot. Meanwhile, a handsome Turkish officer (Alessandro Preziosi) falls for Aram's daughter and makes an aggressive attempt to deliver her and her family from certain death, even as the circumstances surrounding him attest to the astounding difficulty of this goal.

The movie is great but what annoyed me was that it's all in Italian, thought the Turkish people could have spoken a little Turkish and looked a little more like Turks, they are speaking a lovely language in Italian and I didn't think it was a good touch.

In Melbourne Australia this movie was shown at a private show two years ago and is going to be shown again in two weeks time.

The site is http://forums.foriegnmoviesddl.com, register to it and you will have access to more Armenian films. There is also Sayat Nova (1968) from the great director Sergei Parajanov.

I have downloaded the files and unzipped them they all work great, here it is

The forum is awesome, it has plenty of hard to find films and what's better is that they are faster then torrents, I highly recommend people register to it.

    Nice review, Ari.

I heard about this film through my aunt who saw the film about a year ago in France with her family. I couldn't find it anywhere; however, I recently found it on a website and downloaded it. I haven't had the opportunity to watch the film, though.

I'll check out the website you provided, I definitely would love to see some older Armenian films. I saw Sergei Parajanov's film a few months ago and was absolutely mesmerized. They're actually showing Sayat Nova and another of his films at a local Hollywood cinema in May.

I'd love to see this film on the big screen, though, so you're lucky. By the way, I don't think we're allowed to post torrents and such links.

The review is from the forum hehe

I still need to watch Sayat Nova, alot of people I've spoken to have said it is a gem though and his other movies are fantastic too. Did you know Sergei was jailed for about twenty years too from the 60s to 80s

I meant nice choice of film to review.

Yes, I did know he was jailed. He was a very respected and visual filmmaker. During his jailtime, some of the greatest filmmakers asked for his release. I believe Federico Fellini was one of them and many more have actually claimed Parajanov was among the greatest filmmakers of all time.

Ah, the forum is amazing. There are so many links to films I couldn't possibly find elsewhere. Thank you so much. Although, they're mostly uploaded on RapidShare and I don't have an account!

            no worries

yeh its a little annoying cos you cant download more then one at a time and you will have to wait to download sometimes cos it says you have done the limit for the day

if you find movies that are not on rapid and are highly rated let us know

by the way if you haven't already noticed you don't have to go on the forum to download http://www.foriegnmoviesddl.com/2008...1964-1994.html, but forum is better

Yeah, I spent some time looking at it last night. They don't have everything but they do have a bunch of stuff I couldn't even dream of. I downloaded a couple short films; I'll need to find an account to use to download the features. I'll let you know if I get an account, you can use it too.
