  • I'm looking for some records :)

    Hi dear friends

I'm looking for three records of Armenian songs in original performance, I know them just in System of a Down 'demo' performance. If someone found and shared, I would be thankful

Titles and YouTube videos of them:
    1. Im Nazelis - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqHCy...eature=related (very beautiful, I found also translation, but just lyrics) - someone told it's paul baghadian's song, but I didn't find anything.
    2. Sartarabad - (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DajV2...eature=related) - I hope this title is right, probably that's Armenian patriotic song (as people at YT said)
    3. Julietta - (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6Wl9...eature=related)

I'll try also to find guitar tabs and play it my friends/girlfriend, great songs.

Thank you in advance for all, I hope these songs are maybe on Armenian websites - unfortunately I didn't find them on local sites

    Greetings friends

Re: I'm looking for some records

I actually posted about this on SOADfans.com a couple years ago. I'll copy/paste it here.

Kez Em Hishoum (referred to as Im Nazelis by SOAD fans) - Paul Baghdadlian
    Julieta - Paul Baghdadlian
    Julieta - Harout Pamboukjian
Der Voghormia (hidden track after Aerials) - Anna Mailian

Somehow, I don't have a copy of Sardarabad, but I threw in the hidden track after Aerials as a bonus. Some notes. On Kez Em Hishoum (Im Nazelis), the part that Daron sang comes after the first set of verse/chorus. On Julieta, Daron only sang the chorus. I always see Julieta referred to as a Harout song. I'm not sure who actually wrote it, but I figured I'd toss both of these versions up here since I've never seen a reference to Paul's version. I've always been a bigger fan of Paul. He and Harout did a lot of the same songs, but I've always liked Paul's renditions better.

Der Voghormia is a Divine Liturgy song originally composed by Gomitas (or Komitas) Vardapet over 100 years ago, though the song itself is much older than that. Gomitas traveled extensively trying to collect pure Armenian music, unadulterated by surrounding cultural influences. Being a staple holy Armenian song, there are many, many renditions of it. Sardarabat is also a traditional song, so there's no single studio version, per se.

Thanks a lot, you're great! After that, I'll be more interested in Armenian music, as in history
