vast promise
in her eyes
her cheeks
flush awaiting
the warmth
of a summer sun
her aura's kindle
cloaked by
a tattered shawl
her promise
this child
a kaleidoscope
of naked, indecent
indigent genealogy
the sum
of wild breeding
the type
occurring beneath
pallets in
an alleyway
upon a park bench
or better still
beneath or about
one of the glorified
mason tributes
commissioned by the aristocracy
She approached
her promise
relayed through
her outstretched hand
her roadmap
to fortune
her promise
to take however
many euros
I could spare
and share them
with her tribe
for whatever
sustenance
they use
to seek
shelter from
and sanctuary
with the night
but with me
her promise
lacked consideration
for I hadn't
a euro upon me
left to spare
and she wasn't
offering a trick
or a dare
on my demonstration
she gestured
for my coca-light
clearly within
her line of sight
and I obliged her
no need to fight
her quest
for lukewarm
corporate refreshment!
