  • The Artists of HyeClub Series: Poetry

To round out this series, here's a spot for our HyeClub poets to show off their stuff. Again, the work must be done BY the member. Please do not copy/paste someone elses poetry. And please, let's keep it to serious poems, and not the trash that trendy, Starbuck's drinking psuedo-hippies try to pass off as poetry just because it rhymes and sounds "deep". In other words, make sure it's something that has some actual deep meaning to you. To start us off, here are a couple that I wrote a long time ago.

    Collective Divide

    Fractions appear before me
Taking neither shape nor form recognizable
Spreading as infinitely outward as the universe
    In unimaginable colors and vivacity
Taking on an aura, a vibrant glow
    Momentarily stunned and paralyzed,
    I feel them beckoning me.
What have I found? Why am I here?
The more I focus, the more fractions appear.
Then, as mysterious as this Divide is,
    my mind is suddenly clear.
    All doubts disappear,
I know now why I’m here
Eyes sealed like a new born, I extend my form.
In slow moving time, I let myself go,
Falling from the last bit of solidity under me,
Leaving everything I thought I knew behind.
Diving deep into the fraction just before me,
My whole being immersed in it,
    embedded in its thick entity
I swim freely, soaking up all of its brilliance.
And find myself gently floating to the top
I arise out of the fraction, now taking on its metallic hue
I listen to the change in my pulse, my color, my being.
My appetite has formed. My being hungers for more
And so into the fractions I descend, again and again
my being resonating, my thirst never quenched.
My form steadily changing hue with each,
    the hue becoming incandescent radiance
I crave more, I yearn to explore
Knowing the endless fractions before me
will never be conquered in their entirety,
Yet yearning to take them on just the same
My mild passion now a luminous flame
I will play the never ending game
For I know, there is no going back
I will never be the same

    *Untitled*

    You tried.
You tried with all your strength and might.
You tried while wearing an insidious smile
and conveying a blatant disregard for that which makes us human.
And lurking behind your ominous eyes, in the obscurity of your mind,
was an illness taking the form of eroded amicability.
Your vision cloaked in the disillusion that you would succeed.
You feared no form of power, neither man nor god.
You tried by force, you tried by philosophy.
    You tried relentlessly.
    You tried

    You failed!

For I stand here today, many decades into the aftermath,
bearing a name you thought would no longer be used,
waving a flag who's colors you thought would fade away,
speaking the tongue of the ancestors you thought you had eliminated.

    You failed.

For I know the truth, and so shall the entire world.
For I keep the heritage alive, as did those before me.
    We succeeded.
    We survived.
    You failed.

No matter how many years it takes,
no matter how long the duel may be,
we will endure, and the truth will be told.
The world will know that which you would like to bury
in the shadows of a past as dark as the atrocities you committed.
    But just as before,
    we sill succeed,
    you will fail!
Working...
