    This is a Turkish movie

    Guz Sancisi (Autumn Pain) is a movie based on events of September 6, 1955 in Istanbul against Greek Turkish CITIZENS.

    Riots broke out in Istanbul on the night of September 6 1955, leading to looting in Greek neighborhoods & the destruction of many of the city's churches and synagogues.

    More than 5,000 shops belonging to the Greek minority were looted by an emotional crowd of several thousand people reacting to the RUMOR of a bomb attack to the home of the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, in Salonika.

    The army had to intervene to quell the violence.

    You can watch the entire movie on You Tube. Here is the link to part 1

    Re: Autumn Pain

    The facts are that it was state sponsered terror against the minoritys.Even though this movie points and insuniates toward the facts it waffles on the total responsibility.The director does put a disclaimer in the "Extras" that this is not a documentry but a dramatized movie based on the events. The song "Sari Gelin" (The bride of mountain) is memorable, performed in Armenian and Turkish.
    "All truth passes through three stages:
    First, it is ridiculed;
    Second, it is violently opposed; and
    Third, it is accepted as self-evident."

    Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)
