Tigranakert is right with his comment that Turkic people voted for it since Turkey was out. Turkey takes a ton of votes each year, effectively splitting the Turkic community in Europe.
Not to mention the large Muslim community in Europe, remember Turkey wasn't in the finals....

but eurovision has nothing to do with EU politics...how many people you think are aware of the humans rights situation in Azerbaijan before voting for the song?

                Re: Eurovision 2011

Most Europeans liked the song, otherwise it wouldn't have won the prize. I'm aware Azerbaijan spent exorbitant amounts of money on the choreography and production -- I didn't know about the vote-buying, though.

If Armenia truly wants to piss off Azerbaijan next year, they can arrange it so that the final votes are announced from Stepanakert rather than Yerevan.

If the European Union wants, it could force/put pressure Eurovision to ban Azerbaijan from the competition due to its human rights issues. But let's forget that, why the fuk wasn't Azerbaijan punished for voter fraud and voter intimidation? It shows the state of Europe in general. Your question also assumes that average Europeans really voted for Azerbaijan when it is very apparent the song was weak judging from the reaction i'm seeing all over the Net...

Well, I doubt that will happen, because I doubt Eurovision wants to be portrayed in a 'political' light. Remember, the Junior Eurovision was hosted in Belarus just fine, and that country is at par or even worse than Azerbaijan. (and we won it actually).

So are you saying that there was fraud in favour of Azerbaijan? Some reactions on the net doesn't prove that at all. Remember, you have a large Turkish/Muslim population in Europe, and you have Azerbaijan tirelessly working to get the perfect song and rally its diaspora/supporters to vote.

Yes exactly, Belarus is another reason why Europe is a joke. But let's stay away from politics sure and concentrate how Azerbaijan put politics into play with their voter intimidation, breaking the contest's rules and suffering no consequences other than a tap on the wrist.

No, fraud has to be proven like in 2009. I'm claiming the second part of your statement which does not equate to Europeans (-Turks) voting.
