Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

        Four Christmases
        2/5.

Not one of the must movies out there that you have to see. I have seen Vince Vaughn in better movies like Swingers and Wedding Crashers I was dissopinted.

Wedding Crashers is awesome I love the part at the wedding where he's like, "so i was crashing a funeral," and everyone's jaws drop.
          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw Twilight over Thanksgiving. (you can go ahead and laugh at me) about 30 of us went to see a movie and we split up into 2 groups, Quantum of Solace or Twilight, and I was not subjecting myself to quantum again.

Twilight wasn't that bad, 5ish out 10 maybe? It had it's good moments, but bad ones as well, and was kind of rushed. All that aside I didn't regret seeing it instead of seeing Bond again.

Although I need to work on my university applications this winter, I have started to compile more films to watch. I feel like I need to do this for my own personal sanity. Here are some waiting to be watched:

              City Lights
              Boy A
              The 11th Hour

Plus the 8 or so on my previous list for Oscar season.

                The Apartment
I tend to get overdramatic when I see a good film and claim it's one of the greatest ever! I just can't help in, in this case. The Apartment is truly one of the best films of all time. Shirley MacLaine is absolutely beautiful in this film. Her mannerisms are so perfect, she adds to the character with every move. Wilder definitely brings out the best in his characters, as well. The entire film is like a dream, it's so easy to just gaze at its magic. One of the only films ever that I rooted for the main characters to end up together! For once, I was truly hoping Baxter and Kubelik would get together. It's a great film, comedy-wise, romantic-wise and otherwise!

                  Todo sobre mi madre
It doesn't take a film critic to realize there's something different about Pedro Almodóvar's films. Almodóvar is one of the few filmmakers today who can create a surreal world which convinces the audience long enough to be driven into the story. With a film about transvestites and transexuals, the story could easily be made into a cheesy Jerry Springer segment. However, in the hands of Mr. Almodóvar, there's an extraordinary universe where each character belongs to and there's something particularly beautiful about each of them. This is truly a great film to study all types of women; especially mothers. There are several scenes which stand out and are quite emotional, such as the opening sequence and when Rosa meets her father. With Almodóvar, it's love and hate. You're either fascinated by his films and understand what he's trying to create for us, or you simply dislike his work and don't want to understand them for what they are.

                    Boy A

I had heard very good things about this film so I decided to give it a watch. I read a review after I saw the film which spoke about the James Bulger case which took place in England during 1993. Boy A is based upon those events and it would have helped a great deal if I read about Bulger prior to watching the film.

Mainly, because I would have understood the backstory a little more and it would have helped me feel for the characters. Boy A didn't do an excellent job at telling us what is actually going on. It's clear what has happened to Jack's character but not entirely; not enough. The performances were all great and the film at times was very powerful. However, enough isn't shared on screen about the actual story and if perhaps it were, it would make the feel much more powerful.

Overall, it was a good film with a strong ending. The intercuts between Jack's current life and his childhood was done quite nicely. We know what has happened to Jack and what he's running from but perhaps if they elaborated a little more, the ending would hit us in our faces much harder.

                      Religulous

I've been a fan of Bill Maher for quite some time now so I decided to give this film a watch. I didn't get to see it in theatres even though I wanted to. The film is pretty fun because you can tell Maher got under the skin of a lot of people which was his objective. He raises some very good questions which can't be answered. Everybody getting interviewed ended up making a fool of themselves, too.

I only wish Larry Charles filmed Borat the same way he filmed this. Religulous was strictly a documentary whereas Borat had a plot which seemed way too fake. Religulous is strictly in and out guerilla interviews which is what documentary's are about. I did feel like the film ran a little long because half-way through there wasn't any change of material. The film could have been cut down but other than that it was pretty funny.
