Well then if it can't then why is it that I can watch it 5 more times and still not hate it. I usually hate watching movies more than once.

Then it's a movie you love, not a film that "blows your mind." There's a difference.

How do you know nobody would've cared for the film if Hollywood didin't bring it to light?

                    Mystic River

I came across this film so suddenly and decided to give it a watch, mostly for Sean Penn's Oscar-winning performance. The film doesn't waste a minute to grab your attention, and the story only captivates you until the second act of the film. Jimmy, Sean and Dave, as adults, are introduced very cleverly as we glimpse into each man's life for several minutes.

The intensity of the first and second act of the film dies down toward the end, and I felt like the pace of the film came to screeching hault. Although the narrative becomes much more powerful and through editing we feel the emotional clarity picking up between Sean and Dave, we explore common themes too deeply. The suspicion revolving around Dave drags on, which ends up affecting the ending of the film.

Sean Penn gives a both a powerful and emotional performance, shattering every bit of your heart with every moment he is on screen. For the first time, I actually thought to myself, an actor is imitating real life and handling a tragic event as they would in real life. Tim Robbins is very deserving of his Oscar, as well, giving us a dark and haunting portrayal of Dave Boyle. I feel, however, Kevin Bacon's performance was ignored by these two actors. Although Bacon is very walm and calm through the entire film, he definitely becomes a character I connected with and wanted to see on screen.

                    The Virgin Suicides

I had been looking for this film since last summer and finally came across it tonight. Sofie Coppola's storytelling, both as a writer and director, were very strong in Lost in Translation and I knew I would enjoy this film just as much. I hadn't read the novel, and had only heard very little about this film in general.

The Virgin Suicides, as a film, is much like I had imagined it would be. The story uncovers itself and Sofie shows you just the right amount. The audience will possibly be left full of questions, but that's clearly her intention. The pacing of the film pushes the narrative forward, and Coppola's beautiful imagery makes the perfect fantasy picture.

I truly love Sofie Coppola's directorial trademarks, and they have actually inspired my professional life as well. The time lapse scene is beautifully filmed and is one of the most inspirational ones I have seen on film. The Virgin Suicides tells an uneasy and emotionally haunting story, which is meant not to sit well with the viewer.

Mostly stayed true to the comic book, actors portrayed the characters perfectly, the storyline is great, lots of blood and sex, great use of music (especially during violent and sex scenes).

A little lengthy is the only complaint but I can't see how it could've been shorter so it's all good.

General tip: read the comics before watching the movie.

Final note: The Comedian is awesome!!!
