  • Understanding The Words To Enjoy The Song

OK. Right now I'm listening to Josh Groban's song Alejate and I don't understand the words to the song, but I love this song. The language is beautiful, his voice is great and the music has a nice touch of the guitar playing.

So, basically what I'm asking is...
Do you need to understand the words in the song to enjoy the song?

I don't think so. Heck, sometimes the words are horrible but the music and the voice is great.
    Well?
    I see...

    yes and no...lol
you can "feel" the song, the instrumentals, the whole tone and mod of it without understanding the words, you can have your own meaning to it
yes- because the words are very menaingful most of the time also-- so i say both yes and no

You don't have to know the lyrics to enjoy the song.

I don't understand Arabic or Greek (I wish I did), but when I listen to an Arabic or Greek song, I enjoy it because I feel the music. You know, sometimes, you feel the instrumental, the tones, and the voice like Angelik said.

I saw Josh Groban at the Hollywood Bowl last Friday night. I think he did that song you're talking about. It was great

Not in every situation..some songs are still beautiful even without the words so you can still enjoy them...and I dont understand anything in the Armenian songs but I still enjoy it...I just think if you dont know what your missing then your not missing anything...You might enjoy the song even more if you understood the words, but I dont think you would enjoy it any less if you didnt understand it

his is the problem I'm having right now with Serart. It's annoying cause I know, or at least am pretty sure, he's speaking in Armenian... BUT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND A F*CKING THING HE'S SAYING!!! Very very frustrating... but I still love the songs.
