What is rabiz music?

Rabiz is mainly Turkish, Arabic, Persian, or Azeri music with Armenian vocals added to it.

Often times what happens in Armenian recording studios is that the singer who's set up to record there, listens to any song from one of the above mentioned genres and if he/she likes the melody/music.... he/she gets the lyrics transalated.

Then he/she gets Armenian musicians to re-create the same music on his/her album (from fear of copyright infringement) and he/she sings over it with the transalated lyrics. They slap on a cover with their picture and track listing with Armenian wording and voila..... it's an Armenian album.

Pretty pathetic actually.

Ok..... well thats whats considered the process of making Rabiz music and how it fits into the Armenian Music Market.

In regards to the music itself.... I mean.... I can't say all Rabiz music is bad. It depends on how the singer performs the song (which often times sucks) and the way the melody/music is played. I've heard some Rabiz music that sound pretty good, but often times it's kinda rare.

LOL, no no no no no, Serart is not Rabiz at all. Sorry, we ende dup talking about it in the "Rabiz" thread, but no It's not Rabiz at all. There's really no way to label it... I guess the closest way of describing it is "Tribal techno Armenian surealism".... it's by Serj Tankian, what do you expect? check it out here: http://www.serart.net/, click the "listen" section to get a very weird taste.

Yea..... this music sounds very creative and plays on your imagination a lot. I love it. Do they have a CD out already or are they still in the production phases?

What do you need transalated?

If you mean, what they're singing in the tracks.... I don't know... it's not in Armenian.

Personally, I would've rather preferred this album with music with less singing. I can stand some of the chants here and there, but the singing kinda kills it man... it takes away from the great music they've composed.

It is Armenian because every once in a while I actually recognize a word or two. For example on track 8, I've picked out the words "Medegh ahteen" which I guess is the Baruitsihye way of saying "they went somewhere" and I also picked out "Havata Mama, Havata" then on track sixteeen somewhere I recognized "Doona Tsar (christmas tree)"

I'm convinced they are talking armenian... it's just really weird Armenian, ontop of that their Baruitsi (A dialect I can barely understand) and ontop of it he's singing, which makes understanding EVEN harder.
