  • Velvet Revolver... too old?

If you live in LA, and listen to KROQ (the only rock station) you notice that they hardly ever play any of their songs. Is the old style of rock n' roll fading into the darkness, while simi-talent bands take over, or is it just this band?

I haven't liked anything from them yet. Axl made GN'R who they are. Obviously, the other members had a hand in it as well, but Axl gave most of the music a sound that wasn't totally typical of the '80s crap rock. Most of those bands weren't exactly talented, either. Simple riffs, simple lyrics, and half naked chicks in their videos. While not all their material was this way, GN'R had some slightly more complexly orchestrated songs, and lyrics that took a different approach especially on the Use Your Illusion albums. I like the stuff I've heard from GN'R's Chinese Democracy much better then anything I've heard from Velvet Revolver, even if GN'R is just Axl and a bunch of new guys, now. Now...if they could just get their sh*t together and put out the album.

I've heard plenty of this band, so I have no idea what you're talking about. They sound exactly like Alice in Chains. Fun to rock to if you're drunk and not paying attention, but nothing noteworthy.

The only song I've ever heard form them was "set me free" off the Hulk soundtrack.
