  • Are there KANUNs in Armenia?

I didn't want to presume, being completely uneducated with regard to Armenian music. I ask because my father's a retired woodworker and builds kanuns from scratch in his spare time, in Turkey. I sell them for him, as he brings one or two of his pieces with him each time he visits. He's bringing a couple to the states later this month and if there's any interest, I can send pictures etc. Otherwise, they'll be on ebay. Here's a picture of a recent kanun that he built: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6...0/100_5108.jpg
Note that the knobs are an enhanced proprietary design.
    Peace.

I'm glad I checked back because the first link you gave was choral, this new one is instrumental. Mesmerizing and superb. Thanks for sharing it.

My dad is visiting from Turkey for a couple of weeks and I have listed another of his pieces for sale. You can check it out here: http://americanturk.blogspot.com/200...lik-kanun.html

There's a video clip of him playing a sample on his kanun, and there is a link to the auction as well with close up pictures of the instrument. Thanks again karoaper.
