Jethro tull anyone?

My fav albums are the first 4. My father pointed out how the names for the first 3 albums were strategically chosen by Anderson for his career prospects... The first being "This Was" (how they started off as a blues band), then "Stand Up" (they've gotten your attention, now they can play what they want!) and "Benefit" (well, not sure about this one, but it seems to follow a pattern).

Do any of you have speculations on this?

Or do any of you even know these guys?

I love the hop on one leg flute solos. Dusken probably listened to them, but I might be the only one left at this point.

He was in Ankara (or maybe it was Istanbul?) yesterday, giving a concert along with a Turkish woman violinist. Excerpts of it were on TV - seemed rather boring (a flute sounds and looks so insignificant on a large stage no matter how much hopping around you do!). But the audience seemed to like it.

My uncle,who is now in mid-50's,was kind of an Armenian hippy flower child type in his younger days. Recently,he gave me almost his entire LP record collection for some unknown reason,maybe around 100 of them. Included was a great Jethro Tull album called "Aqualung". The old dude also gave me a bunch of good classic Armenian music albums,as well.

Haha, that's awesome... Yeah, Aqualung is a good way to start off with Jethro Tull, now all you have to do is work your way backwards and forwards through time from it.

By classical Armenian, you mean instrumentals and duduk playing, and stuff like that?

Exactly,duduk playing but also tara,kanoun,clarinet,zither...etc. I'm talking about Armenian traditional folk and dance music with festive strong,lively rythms. Too many to name them all and some as old as heck. A real listening pleasure. I like some of them as much as the rock.

sounds interesting... We listen to them sometimes during our kung fu training, but I don't own any copies of that kind of music. I'll look into that too.

Jgk3, I don't know if you heard but Jethro Tull had a concert in Armenia this year. Here's Ian Anderson's opinion on Yerevan . You can find videos of his performance by searching "Jethro Tull Armenia" on YouTube.
