Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

    You ppl are really messed in the head. Had it not been for Paul we wouldnt have , nor be interested in Armenian music. He has been there since day one and still his flame hasnt died out. You know it, I know it , today we still listen to his music like Harsntzoun which we all love and enjoy. You dont like his music, u just aint Armenian. Shame on you.

      Please speak for yourself. You might know "it", but I have no idea about what you're saying.

      And when was day one? Armenian music started in the late 70s or something?

      And if that last rule about not being Armenian if you don't like Paul is true, I shall proudly relinquish my Armenian identity.

        Few things:

        1) Never liked Harsntzoun and never will.
        2) I don't like his music, so guess what.... I shut it off and still retain my 99% Armenianess..... yea... I lost the 1% listening to Paul.
        3) I prefer Harout Pamboukjian if you wanna talk about Armenian singers who have been there since day one.

        Honestly though.....how could anyone like Paul's crap. I mean given everyone has their own taste, but I personally am not going to argue the fact whether his music is good or not, because I've been exposed to it at a young age, HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO IT ALL MY LIFE, and NEVER really liked it. I gave it a shot, and didn't like it at all. However, that's just my opinion... take it or leave it... i don't care.

        I don't like his thin voice, the way he sings, or the music he sings on.... sorry.

            hmmmmm.... i didnt know paul baghdadlian was THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLD!!!!!

            u cant expect not only an entire culture, but an entire culture with all of its distant sub-cultures to love a certain artist's music, or anything for that matter, simply because u love that artist & because their music makes u feel good and 'armenian'

            on the other hand, i am a huge paul baghdadlian fan. i think he's a fantastic singer. ive seen, heard & played with many singers in my life & career & none compares to his raw attitude & control over the sonic & dynamic range of his instrument, which is his voice. obviously he is not the singer he used to be, & to disagree with me would be folly. the extreme lifestyle & substance abuse has taken its toll over the years & that "worn" character breathes & lives with every word (or non-word= ya-leeeyliii-yeeaa-le'hheil.. ) he sings... & to listen to him even now is enjoyable for just that reason. if only we could hear him only sing... & not open his dirty mouth for the purpose of being the xxxxxxx that he is, as a person. they should pass a bill & try to make it a law that paul baghdadlian's microphone should be automatically & immediately shut off between songs & even during instrumental solos, when he's not singing..... otherwise, this guy is a catastrophe! hehehe

                Agreed a hundred fold. I think he has an amazing voice....well....had. But then again, I grew up with his late '70s, early '80s stuff. I never really heard anything of his '90s & up material until recently (thanks, Kazaa!!), and I gotta' say, he's completely lost it. I can't tolerate any of his more..."recent" stuff. Neither the melodies, nor his voice are good. He has also noticeably given up on the instrument/sound experimentations. In his early stuff, every album had a ..."sound". Lots of more jazzy sounding material in "Antzrev E Kalis" with the sax, the good old disco sound in "Mareta", more of a....slow rock, for lack of a better term, in "Sev Acher", etc. Anything from '90 and up from him is so bland, corny, and boring now. What happened to stuff like "Du Anmegh Es", "Karoun E Karoun", "Siroun Agchig", "Asghe Im Gnats".....

                Mech es gyank che mmmmnnnnats,
                halvets, mashvets, gnats,
                arantz kez, chi pailir,
                asghe im gnats.....



                But, just because the guy is a complete, and total a$$, and doesn't sing or make music as good as he used to, is not reason to discredit him. If we go along with this way of thinking, there really aren't very many musicians to like. He did push the envelope in a time when it wasn't common at all. Different, non-traditional Armenian sounds.
