I know a bunch of guys that used to use this russian mp3 site where they paid like 10 cents a song or something (I think it was Allofmp3.com but not sure right now). Apparently, it was (is?) "legal" due to some strange international copyright loophole. They seemed to really like it at the time although, again, I never tried it myself. To me, it's not very clear if there is any point to paying some russian site for songs just to be "legal" when the artists will probably not see a penny from it.
Oh yah and of course I bought the SOAD CD at the store
