Yeah, I liked ACH before I got fed up with seeing the CHP there all the time...same with Azusa, Ortega, ect...or at least on weekends
Right now my bike is in the shop...1 year old, 10k miles, and engine went out. I doubt I'll buy another kawi again. I'm tempted to buy a 600 but I think I would miss the power...and the liters just aren't that much more when new.
I'm sticking with track days from now on...no cops, no cars, no worries. There's many of them under $100 now.

The trick is to ride very early and start out from little Tujunga canyon (take Oro Vitae from Foothil BLVD) in city of Sunland and you will have the road to yourself all the way up to ACH. BTW, this is 600 territory .you end up working too hard in a 900 to keep up.
If you can ride the track then absolutely, that is good riding that tests your skills in a safer environment ..plus like you said, you need a 900 there.
I used to be on the mountains before 8am at times but still, on hte way down, they'd be there waiting. Lately I've been too lazy to get up so early and been tagged. weekdays is best if possible.
I can't believe Jorge wiped out on turn one! I'm a big fan of Fiat Yamaha Team...especially 99 and 43. I normally just ride all the time, and watch Motogp at times, but I've been forgetting to read about that crash...thanks for the reminder. On Motogp.com he says he lost his front brake from that little tap. http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2009/l...bout+the+crash
The chances are much higher to run into a slow moving vehicle during weekdays midmorning through canyons, especially if people use it as commute to work which also translates into them passing slower cars unsafely........and my friends, the chances are that there you are, coming around a blind corner.
Ride as the sun comes up .there are enough challenges to master the canyons safely, you dont need surprises.
