I agree and prefer the M3 (seen the new competition version? drool...) - but they are different beasts. M5/6 is a big luxo cruiser for high speeds. M3 is more of a toss around speedster. And some folks want/need the roomier car. I myself prefer smaller & sportier/tossable - so M3 apeals to me (still new M5/6 is some car - also new M3 - not out yet - will likely be larger - some decry the current e46 M3 versus prior e30/36 models (which were smaller and more agile). Some would even say the M3 is an overbloated pig - compared to say a Lotus Elise....
