Re: Muslims occupy Europe
No the people don't want a giant military, it got voted down. As for Japan it isn't a slave to the USA (but a blind ally for sure), and how politics work in Asia is changing. Japan doesn't need much of a military regardless, its not like China is going to attack Japan. As for North Korea it will never attack South Korea or Japan, it will just threaten or develop the capacity to. As for culture most nations are addicted and influenced by US culture, ironically even China and Russia follow this trend.Originally posted by Haykakan View PostThe only reason Japan does not have a strong military is because the USA won't allow it, otherwise they would have a dam good one. Japan is very much still a conquered nation and a slave to the USA. It's once proud people now worship have been rock and movie stars from the USA. It is pretty pathetic actually.

Fine post jgk3, on the goal of life. Agree.Originally posted by jgk3 View PostOf course this is true, but that leads me to ask... Why were we given this form, this culture, this language and this history we call Armenian, even though we are humans and are part of a greater mankind? Why can we be so passionate and curious about our culture? Why do we consider that some elements in our world are "enemies"?
Do we feel better only by seeking psychological answers that explain how we approach ourselves this way, historical answers that reveal the truth of our perishability in the longrun?
Or do we feel better by recognizing these cultural ideas as real and not ephemerial, as the basis and purpose of life itself on Earth for us. I think it is through this later motivation that we find the energy to leave our mark for generations to come, so they can remember it as legends. There is something magical about this. Each time, the storyteller adds his own life's wonders and participates in a tradition which transcends the limitations of his pending death.
Thanks to this, history has an object of study. Children and adults alike have heros to revere and consider. And language provides the string that ties this fabric cultural realm to all the people in a community. This fabric is made by us, yet we make it real. We know it perishes if we let it, and that's why we don't want to fade away needlessly. Why is it, afterall, that even monks who seek experiences of relinquishing the ephemeral condition of the self, end up creating their own scholarly or ritual traditions to pass on.
So this must be why there are Armenians, Germans, Turks and Chinese. Our golden ages and empires can crumble, but the core from which they sprang from is the same core, the same tradition that begot us. That's the situation, and what we do with it is up to ourselves.
Creative people collectively called: civilized nations had left astonishing cultural heritage, which peoples appreciated duly and told legends about. They are the ones that have been able to leave mostly positive trace throughout mankind history. Some of the nations are extinct, but the legends make them more alive and respected, compared with the ones that still exist, but world doesn’t know anything positive about them ...
Չարն էլ է միշտ հիշվում անվերջ, անեծք նրա չար գործին …
The rest of the world remembers it. Sense of justice leaves in every human being, it may get ill, wounded but it never dies. And they will face the justice one day. May be it would seem long time for me, but it’s a moment in history terms.

Islam, Christianity, Judaism....Armenians, Germans, Turks, Chinese, in the end humanity will go on without them. xxxx happens, and there's nothing any of us can do to prevent the inevitable, cultures die out, some go on for a little while longer than others, but in the end they still disappear. Every empire in history has fallen, even if they had the resources to maintain control and assimilate the conquered populations, and in the end, their effects on the populations culture fades too.

My signature pretty much sums up why a one world culture can't and has never existed. This is why every empire has fallen and none stood the test of time.Originally posted by ara87 View Postthis is a really anti nationalistic answer, but none of this matters.
