Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Starting in early 2000s, Turkey has been actively "embracing" its "Ottoman roots" as Davutoglu has gone as far as to formulate a policy of Neo-Ottomanism.

Israel is worried that Turkey might slip away. The majority of the population of Turkey (even metropolitan) still remained traditional, which means even if nominal adhering to Islam and its values, thus sharing more of a connection with the Palestinians than the Israelis.
The Turkish Nationalist chatter that I come across seems to point to what you say.
Do you think they speak the truth when they claim that they are not expansionists? the Islamic neo Ottomanists are..........They sure try hard to convince Isaelis otherwise. Ha.

    Latest Gallup poll:

To put these findings in perspective, it is worth noting that Turkish respondents are cool toward the job performance of foreign organizations and country leadership in general. However, the United States' and Israel's leadership are the only two to have a majority of respondents disapprove.

As President Obama visits Turkey, Gallup reveals that majorities of Turkish respondents disapproved of United States’ and Israel’s leadership when Gallup last polled there in July. Respondents favored Obama during the U.S. presidential election, but did not express much hope for improving U.S.-Turkey relations.

Maybe now Orthodox Israelis will stop spitting on Christians, especially our priests. You'd think they'd be the first people to fight for our genocide recognition, and not out of anger towards recent events.

We should be taking bets on when the next military coup will be...I say late December/early January.

Well, that would definitely halt the EU negotiations and Turkey`s ambition to become a member of the EU...

Every nation tries to expand its influence in one way or another, so of course they are serious.

Thanks for the info, quite interesting. Well, if my memory serves me right based on several polls conducted, roughly 1/3 of Turks are 'hardcore' Islamists, while the other 1/3 are "moderate" Islamic oriented, while perhaps roughly the other 1/3 is "secular." But the national direction has obviously shifted more toward the Middle East, while at the same tame trying to maintain ties with the West and also Israel. The current Turkish government is also smart enough to adhere to populist outcries from its own Turkish constituency in light of the 2008-2009 Israeli excursion into Gaza and what many Turks viewed were clear war crimes. Erdogan went as far as to call it a "genocide." So the relationship has been deteriorating for some time now and Turkey due to its geostrategic location - at the crossroads of Europe and Asia - has resources and can afford to look toward the Middle East.

Israel on the other hand needs Turkey more since it has virtually no friends whatsoever in the Middle East. Even Egypt and Jordan maintain nominal ties with Israel because of already strained situation in their own constituencies when it comes to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

I wish...since when has Europe or the UN given a damn about democracy in Turkey? Human rights? If anything, blaming it on 'Islamic fundamentalists', the military dictatorship will enable the European nancys to look the other way. They have enough problems with the Islamic boogiemen and large Turkish populations.

The only good that'll come out is more tension with Iran and Arab nations but more bedfellowship with Israel and Syria.

The EU is turning into as big of a joke as the UN.

Re: Israelis ban Turkish coffee/hand out Armenian Genocide info

The Armenian Genocide is being used again.

Turkish officials have short memory for history

Rize city (North Turkey) was a first stop in the regional tour of Mr. Pinhas Avivi, Israeli Ambassador to Turkey. The meeting between Israeli diplomat and Halil Bakirci, Mayor of Rize, was chilly, Iha e-source informs. Bakirci said that the locals are worried about Israeli tourists staying in the countryside, bypassing the city.

Avivi stated that Israeli-Turkish relations have stable basis, although they presently go through hard times.

"Israel carries out expansionist policy and opinion of Turkish people about it will remain unchanged. Due to this, as a governor I am concerned over the matter, as Israeli tourists might face challenges while visiting the country. Preventive measures are taken in this regard," Bakirci stated.

Israeli Ambassador insisted that there is no alternative to his country but to do so, adding that Turks would act likewise if find themselves in a similar situation.

Bakirci maintained, "I do not speak on behalf of the country but on my own. While at war, Israel will fail to achieve peace. For peace establishment in the region Israel should end the war. Indeed, Rize residents will defend themselves in case of threat, but in no way killing children," emphasized Bakirci.

The dialogue broke off, as this sharp standpoint astonished Israeli Ambassador and his entourage.

Accusing Israel of committing crimes in Palestine, Rize Mayor forgot to mention Turks' ability to perpetrate the massacre of a whole nation while "defending themselves". In any case, raving about the murdered Palestinian children, the Turkish official withheld how Turks slaughtered Armenian children during the Genocide in 1915.

Basically all the officials know the genocide happened, some have even spoken out, they deny because it is government policy and Turkish politcial interest.
