My dad was born in detroit and his family eventually moved to the burbs, and even without all the knowledge I've gained from him, his parents, and his grandparents of the city, I could still tell you by actually studying history, that Detroit was well on it's way to being flushed down the toilet before the 70's and influx of muslims and mexican's came along. They may have been like added gasoline to the fire, but the fire was already burning and spreading anyway.

Mexicans were and ow the Muslims are, just scape goats for a failed city that started dying a long long time ago.

There are only two solutions for detroit. 1) find a couple of billionaires to restore and rebuild everything, or 2) move everyone out and level the place

I'm going to be in Detroit sometime this summer so I will check out the city for myself, it will be interesting to see how much of what the articles author wrote will apply to what I see.

Much of what they say about Detroit is true. There is dilapidation, and there are some places you should definitely avoid, especially at night.....but there are still some nice gems around... some historical buildings, some good museums, I like Greek town too, it's main attraction is a casino, but there are other little stores and restaurants around it that are nice to go to.

There are some nice attractions in the suburbs. You can also go across the rivers via bridge or tunnel to Windsor, Ontario, where there are some better museums, casinos, and other things to do. There used to be an amusement park right on the river that i went to as a kid, I think it's closed now, but maybe another one's taken it's place
