Chechens...Islamic fundamentalists. Same people which helped Azeris during Karabakh war but failed. Looks like Russia didn't do its job well enough during the wars.

You shouldn't confuse Russia with the U.S.S.R.

The current conflict in Chechnia and its overspilling into other regions isn't about czarist wars of expansion in the Caucasus, or Stalinist deportations.
Putin wasn't president of the USSR, and isn't prime minister of the USSR, and the Russian fascistic nationalists (it sometimes seems there is no other sort of Russian these days) that voted for him (or his puppet Medvedev) were not citizens of the USSR. If Muscovites (or Londoners, or New Yorkers) knowingly vote for a continuation of a conflict, and want to live in a society that condones the abuses that their government and armed forces commits, then they have to live with the consequences - they are no longer innocent victims.

Why am i seeing Iraq, afganastan, palastine, vietnam, korea, .....flashing in front of my eyes. Putin is doing the right things for his country, i only wish we had such a powerful and effective leader.

Russia has become a nothing under Putin and his criminal cronies. It has become a place of no cultural importance, with a population of sheep, no innovative industries (except criminal ones), no literature, no intellectual freedom and no desire to even have such freedom, only a raw wealth and crude power for a select few and the promise of a crass, mindless, bread-and-circuses-type consumerism for the masses, mostly gained from the short-term exploitation of natural resources.

Those symptoms appear in all oil producing states. It is a product of economic form vs anything Putin has done. Putin has done great things for his people and country which were on the edge when he took over. I only wish we had a direct border with Russia but...

You know what they say... if you can't beat them, join them. Putin has used Capitalistic economics of western governments and successfully kept the greedy hands of NGO's out of the cookie jar. He is what an effective government is all about.

That is a new one.....According to Russian investigators the two black widows didn't activate their vest themselves, it was remotely detonated by two male accomplices from the hotel. I wonder if they also kept in communication with the women to direct them to best location or change targets. That is cold
