True. If they're going to discriminate based on sex, whats to stop them from discriminating based on race? Afterall, both are based on genetics. Rates based on race would actually be a better deal for me.

Well they wouldn't use race for socio-political reasons and because the uber-liberals have convinced enough people that race is a social contruct, as in race doesn't exist.

Men are inherently more risky, especially when it comes to driving. Females tend to be more conservative in their actions.

Men also have much better hand-eye coordination and tend to be more focused on the road. I wonder why they haven't factored that into their equations.

The problem is that much of the data compiled is based on who was involved in an accident. As drivers, we all know that many times the person who causes an accident is not involved in the actual accident. This is where I've noticed women (and Asians) having a notoriously negative effect on the road compared to adult males.

At the age of 16 when people start driving, they have no record which means whether they are male or female they have done nothing wrong. At this point they should pay exactly the same amount for insurance. As they get into accidents and develop a driving history, this is when the rates should change to reflect on the poor drivers.

This seems like the most logical method, which ensures that it will never be used.

The reason insurance companies rated women as having less accidents is because most of them were home makers at the time so they weren't on the road as often. Men were doing most of the driving so obviously the more you drive, the more prone you are to get into an accident. Statistics based on gender or race can't be used to determine insurance rates. That's like charging more if you're Asian because your eyes are always squinting and you can't see as well even though you have had no accidents.

They should also consider who were, or what was the causes of these accidents.
Let’s say men are more likely gets involved in accidents, but usually when having sex while driving it’s men who does the driving. When women are driving with their husbands, husbands don’t bittch them till they arrive to their destination, they would be looking out checking chicks and agreeing to everything thier wives are telling them. The opposite is true when men are driving with their wives beside them, women will bring out things that happened 2-3 years before and bittch about them, then they will criticize their men on everything they do, “Why did you take this road the other one is shorter”, “see if you have taken the other road, the one that I always take we wouldn’t be in this traffic right now” and it goes on and on. I think that’s why men are more involved in Accidents then women.

That is sexist. Risk should be based on experience and driving history. You can't blame and charge 1 man and make him pay for something another man does. Women should also be paying for the damage their crazy boyfriends do. It's time for a level playing field. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

It's not sexist. It's actually proven statistically and even scientifically that males take more risks than women. Of course, sex shouldn't be the only factor in insurance price, since history of the person is important, but the sex is still taken account of, and for a good reason.

That is sexist. Risk should be based on experience and driving history. You can't blame and charge 1 man and make him pay for something another man does. Women should also be paying for the damage their crazy boyfriends do. It's time for a level playing field. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I hope this comes to North America as I'm tired of paying higher insurance than women who have wrecked 4 cars.

Insurance premiums to change after ECJ gender ruling

Insurers cannot charge different premiums to men and women because of their gender, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled.

The decision means that women can no longer be charged lower car insurance premiums than men, and the cost of buying a pensions annuity will change.

The change will come into effect in December 2012, although customers could see premiums alter in the interim.
