No, his videos were all old and there was no new content but the CIA and US gov had to keep using them to keep the poster boy for terrorism alive. It's not a conspiracy, it's strategic warfare. The Russian gov is known for blowing up apartment buildings and then blaming it on the Chechens. I hate the term conspiracy.... since when was the concept of planning so ridiculous.

No sane person gets happy when other people die. So are there insane Americans that may get happy? Sure. But it's certainly not 'some' Americans, it's much less. Let's not forget after 9/11 occurred there were groups of Arabs celebrating, so you have insane people everywhere. Maybe the other group of people that will be happy when innocent people die is terrorist groups because that's their objective.

Ok, perhaps just the ones I worked with when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were launched There was maybe 1 or 2 that seemed sympathetic, the rest were cheering for the death of towel heads.

Of course, this was when they thought they were winning.... I'm sure after losing their jobs and homes, they take that sentiment back.

I didn't say that. What I meant to say was you'd think there would be more individual attacks on American interests but there aren't which means people in other countries aren't revengeful (or rather, less revengeful than they should be). However, some Americans do get happy when foreigners die. There are some Americans that love to live the war culture because they've been brought up that way.

Considering the amount of mayhem the U.S. has caused due to its foreign policy, it's surprising there aren't daily attacks on U.S. interests.

I never have supported US's policy in the middle east, nor their imperialistic wars. That being said, if a group is specifically known to have caused this attack and actively seeking to cause more, it's not out of logic to pursue that group - and at the same time try to also understand why such groups target American and not let's say Switzerland in the first place.

I have seen and read the conspiracy literature. Heard of Loose Change? However, I find the opposing side more convincing and all that supported with the fact of al-Qaeda taking responsibility and much more evidence. There are conspiracy theories for everything, that doesn't mean everything is right. The Bush administration was filled with neo-con a*sholes, but not to the extent that they would be willing to do this.

So you still want to live in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, or rural Pakistan? You would feel safe living in those areas? Wouldn't think twice before splitting bread with Islamic extremists of those areas?

These extremists are all left over from make shift militaries that the U.S. and Britain created to serve their interests in the middle east. So Al-Qaeda at one point was on western payroll. They just got angry after the layoffs or termination of employment. Disgruntled terrorists.

I am aware that al-Qaeda was supported by US, and actually Osama was a close ally of CIA. Same with Saddam. They were all being used as pawns against the Soviet Union's influence, that's what America was most afraid of during the Cold War. The Islamic extremism threat was secondary. Now, it has shifted. They are no longer business partners and have opposing interests.

However, US could do itself a favour by not being so one-sided with Israel, and not getting its nose in everyone's business. So could the US change its policies to decrease such extremism? Of course it could, but it won't eliminate the threat absolutely, you will still have lunatics.

Well first off, it's kind of tough to give a trial to someone who will go down before being taken. Plus, I'm sure if Osama was still alive the reaction from al-Qaeda and its sympathisers would be heck of a lot different.
