Armenian Apps for the iPhone

Do we have any members of the forum who know anything about apple's SDK. I ask because I am planning on making an application for Armenian phrases and a dictionary and as of now, I have no idea how to do that.

With that said, I ordered a book that should help me along with this project. However, that book (like many similar ones) are not published yet, so I have to wait in order to read up on this development kit.

Anyway, I'm just throwing it out there...if anyone knows what the hell they're doing and is interested in getting involved, let me know.

My brother-in-law does this for a living; not necessarily applications for the iPhone but he's in computer science and he has created many applications and such.

I'm sure he'd be interested but only if this is a serious proposition.

To be honest with you, I'm going at this blind.

The book(s) I ordered give code "recipies" for the making of standard programs. I'm thinking that some of these recipies will be useful for putting together a dictionary or a travel guide (btw, I have all the material ready for the travel phrases, etc)...the biggest obstacle will probabably be data entry and QC.
To be honest, I'm not sure if the iPhone will even support Armenian font. If that is the case, I would need a work around...

Anyway, of course I am serious, but I'm not yet sure if my computer skill limitations will allow mw to accomplish this task...thus I am asking for input/help from anyone who may know somthing about the matter.

If your cousin is interested in getting involved, that would be great. This application will probabbly generate revenue also if it is good enough to be sold on apple's application store.

Again, if anyone is interested and lives somewhere near RI, lets put our heads together and develop this thing. Already there are plenty of language learning apps, but Armenian is neglected...for now.

Apple is notorious for going out of its way to make it almost impossible for anyone to build any applications for their platforms. That's why they have generally sucked over the years.

I would look at Google's Android. Once out later this year, it's sure to make a big bang and it'll make much more of an impact and be of use to far more people than the extremely limited iphone. The SDK for android has been out for a while and there is an emulator in there that'll let you test and play with things right away.

Unless of course you personally have an iphone and want to mess with it for yourself.

Thanks Sip...I looked into the android and it is nice. I'll have to go to the bookstore and see if there are any beginners guides on how to set up applications...SDK for dummies, or something.
I actually downloaded the SDK, but I can't make heads or tales out of it yet.

That being said, the Andriod looks great, but I'm partial to the iPhone. It will be interesting to see if the Android takes of or not.
