1. Can you make it? yep
2. Do you drink it?rarely. mostly when i am a guest at a house, say visiting relatives.
3. Do you turn your cup over on the saucer after you're finished?nope. most of the women in the family do. they like to tell fortunes by looking inside the cup
4. When did you learn how to make it? long ago
5. Do you use cardamon/hel? no.
6. Do you wait for the water to boil beore putting the coffee in? no. since i don't like to drink Turkish coffee, i prepare it only for guests or parents, and then i don't bother with waiting the water to boil in order to add the coffee.
7. Do you only buy brands such as Najar's from a middle eastern stores, or do you just get coffee in a Turkish grind at your local coffee vendor (starbucks, grocery store, etc.) ? i never buy coffee. my parents do buying. they have their own vendor friend.

Do they put their finger on the bottom of the cuo and make a wish? Somebody told me that was a Turkish tradition. In my family we turn it over, but nobody really knows how to tell a fortune or anything, we just pretend its like a rorschach test

They mostly put their fingers, but I don't know if that is a Turkish tradition (because my hometown follows both Turkish traditions and Arabic traditions).
Believe me, nobody that I know really knows how to tell a fortune. I questioned some of my mother's friends who are famous for predicting the future and they all confessed that whatever they tell is made up. They have some standard stories for housewives, for girls/boys at the age of marriage, for families with children, for people in need of money, etc.
Anyway, I hope you will always have images of birds and fish in your cup : )

So i just went to Wikipedia to read about the fortune telling, which is apparently called Tasseography. Anyways in the article it said that a cup reader in Israel was charged with the crime of "performing magic" which is punishable for up to 5 years.... can we say ridiculous?

Anyway, I hope you will always have images of birds and fish in your cup : )
