Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • What are you doing with your life?

I'm talking about right now, in your life, what are you doing? Are there a certain number of important tasks you're battling at hand? Discuss!

Currently, I am desperately waiting to hear from several universities I applied to. USC and Chapman University top my list, as I applied as a Critical Studies and Film Production major, respectively. I also applied to New York University as a Cinema Studies major, although it is unlikely I will get accepted there without being accepted somewhere locally. As a backup, I applied to Woodbury University as a Psychology major where I will be able to minor in Film.

Meanwhile, I am designing several websites. I am working on a hookah website which will provide visitors with tips and general advice for hookah preparation. This project is completely for my own because I have always wanted to collect hookah information for others. I am also designing a company website with my brother-in-law for my father's business. I am responsible for the overall layout, as well as articles and written information.

I am also developing an original feature length screenplay, which will probably come together if I don't get into film school. I am spending my time crafting this very personal story about a mother and son, while drawing my inspiration from my personal favorite films and filmmakers: Atom Egoyan (Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter, Ararat) and Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain). I should be working on completing post-production on Amorosa, my first short film, which was completed in August 2008. I had to put off the work when I started working on my applications and must go back to completing the film.

Perhaps it's just me, but I feel the need to constantly keep myself busy. Unfortunately, these projects never pick up and are never finished. My problem is I am involved in so many projects, I can never finish anything and end up losing interest. Hopefully, this thread will serve as a painful reminder.

I am also slowly working on a home theatre for my new house. For now, I am simply making my decisions on equipments (projector, surround sound system, receiver) and will eventually start purchasing them and designing the actual theatre itself.

I am currently working with school and homework.

Slowly I am starting to build onto my flash creations. During the summer me and my friends are going to make a 5-10 minute flash movie(Not amateur, real nice graphics, and all.) I am still thinking of writing a script for it then i will be making 2 more scripts to clean up and make sure everything goes in order and I will even start(dare I say) storyboarding(DUN DUN DUN.)

I am in my second year at university and have no idea where I am going really, maybe IT I don't know. Annoyed though...NZ used to have free education from pre school to university, but the free market capitalists cut that back...the only bad side...student loans.

I think I remember you telling me about this a few months ago.

I remember messing around with Flash at your age. I made some pretty interesting movies during September 11 where I tried to recreate the attack in New York. Keep it up, there's a whole world to learn outside of Flash and you're at a good start.

Re: What are you doing with your life?

Guys, continue pursuing your projects that you feel so adamant about. And whether you like it or not, if you "abandon" them they will come back to you. I have many projects in my life and I want to pursue them not for myself, but so that they can materialize and their full fruit could be of use to others in the future.

I am teaching piano, doing my linguistics program and pursuing martial arts on a more or less consistent basis (every week). I want to find mastery in all these things and be able to teach them myself.

I want to end up traveling across entire continents by foot, Canada is good for that and in my opinion, so is Russia. When I look at a globe, this is what I think about. I want to find personal mastery over diverse elements of nature and terrestrial distance. I want to leave my mark along the way frequently, building "checkpoints" that serve as camping bases or even makeshift architectural structures along the way that can host other voyagers in the future. I would also like to plant plenty of fruit trees in certain checkpoints for this same purpose.

Another thing I'd like when I embark on this voyage is to have a pack of dogs with me that I will train to hunt, scout and defend. I know little about how to train dogs for this as of yet, but I will learn because I know dogs can make great companions and are very useful to man.

I know that in nature, if you spend enough time in it, the concerns of city life completely vanish. They take on the form of entertaining recollections, as removed from your reality as the television you watch. Instead, you are connected with the sounds of the forest, the sounds that the birds, creatures and critters live in. It is its own language, a marriage of stillness and movement, of instinct and observation. I want to spend time learning and speaking this language.

I would like to travel through several towns and perhaps along the way as well in these voyages, meeting and learning about many different people, their lives, beliefs, traditions.
